This mom might have the coolest baby ever in her belly.
Brandon Hopkins, the baby's father, says that the mom is actually pregnant with twins! Hopkins says this photo was taken earlier this week.

That is cute :). I am expecting our seventh and have had complications in a previous pregnancy so get lots of ultra sounds. It’s amazing to see what goes on in there...I’ve seen thumb sucking, what looked like a smile, and at my latest early ultra sound (13 weeks gestation) my OB pointed out that baby was “kicking off the side of the pool” and that’s exactly what it looked like; a double leg push off, bounce back then do it again over and over. It truly looked as if the baby was playing. All while so tiny that I couldn’t feel it at all. It never ceases to amaze me.
That’s the equivalent of giving the middle finger to Richard Dawkins.
My wife worked in a cardiologist’s (female) office when she was pregnant with #2. The doc was good at ultra sounding hearts. Just for a lark she did my wife’s belly a couple of times. No doubt about it (says the cardiologist) it’s a girl.
Our son Elliot didn’t have a name for about 4 days as we frantically worked to come up with one.
Well I was thinking it was the equivalent of giving the middle finger to Planned Parenthood but, yea that too!

Belated congrats, he’s 19 now. Ultrasounds have gotten much MUCH better in 19 years.
Yep, much better. They’re 3D now. Our daughter is 19 too. Even back then you could definitely tell she was female :)

I remember when ultra sounds were new. People would proudly hand you a Polaroid. I never knew what you were supposed to do with it.

My son waved as if saying, “Hi!” It was the most surreal thing. I tell myself, “No... it couldn’t be. How could he possibly know he was having his picture taken.” But wow, if he wasn’t the born the most gregarious ham you ever met.
That’s heart-warming! Thank you for sharing that bit. Sen. Dead Kennedy, may he rot in his fiery new home, had been unhappy with our terms embryo and foetus. He came up with a new term: conceptus. When you call a new person kicking pff the side of a pool a conceptus, you can disengage emotionally and tear him out of his warm and watery home without a thought.
I’m sorry you’ve had complications in the past. I pray that God brings you and your new munchkin safely through this special time.

Thanks. That’s pretty much what my husband said when I shared the story with him. Every thing looks good so far, so it’s not looking like bedrest is in my future. Huge answer to prayer!!
A friend of mine had all her babies before the ultra sound era. After 4 girls in a row they pretty much figured the 5th would be a girl as well. They finally came up with a name when he was six weeks old-right at the deadline set by the government.
