Eh, nothing wrong with a little Xanax here and there. There are many nights I would not have slept if it weren’t for one of those little pills.

LOL I was wondering how in the world you could spend THAT much at the drugstore in 7 days time!

I can’t speak to other areas, but they seem to hire surly, indignant pharmacy employees, here.

I tried to fill a script there once and then asked for help several other times about particular issues and received snotty responses, when they finally bothered to acknowledge my existence.

I use a small, local pharmacy where the pharmacist knows my name and every little detail of my meds.

He’s caught interaction issues with hubby’s meds several times.

Most importantly of all, he cares about us a people and we even have his personal cell number for emergencies.

Try that with CVS.

Guess it’s time for me to tell my best CVS story.

The quality of the help in their stores can vary wildly between locations. One might suspect demographics play a part, but who’s to say?

I was out riding my bike and was in a part of town we rarely frequent when I remembered that my wife had requested a couple of items from CVS which included the dreaded tobacco products they no longer carry.

I picked up a few items, went to the check out counter and asked for the smokes. The order was rung up and the total came to an odd amount, I think something like $16.23. I had a 20 dollar bill in my hand.

The clerk rang up the amount tendered and as I fiddled in my pocket I realized I had exact change so I counted out the 23 cents (or whatever it was) only to be greeted with total consternation.

The clerk could not figure out how to take the 23 cents and give me the resultant whole dollar. Before I could say “Forget about it” a manager was called.

After he stared at he cash register for a moment he asked me to take back the 23 cents and the relieved clerk proceed to give me change including the 77 odd cents.

I decided to be kind to the folks in line behind me and not ask them to take the change plus what I had dug out of my pocket and give me a dollar bill. I’m pretty sure the registers aren’t programmed for that.

I quit both CVS (surly pharmacists) and Walgreen's (never enough help in the pharmacy department, waits incredible both in drive-in and inside).

I now do business at a little private pharmacy in town. Personalized service to the max, no waits, and best of all, free delivery. If you're sick in bed, there's nothing better than your prescription placed quietly between your doors within hours....and just charged to your account.

Local CVS here in FL is a pain.

Got a prescription for pain meds after surgery on August 25. They were out, but for some reason were unable to tell me whether another branch had it or get it transferred from them. Just got the call yesterday that they’d got it in. That’s 9 days.

As it turns out, I haven’t needed the pain meds, so no huge biggie. But I’d hate to wait 9 days in pain because the store appears to be incompetent.

Also, I despise their “specials.” They only apply if you have their stupid little discount card with you, as if I want to carry around a dozen or two stupid little cards from different stores.

I also fail to understand the business model of combining a pharmacy with a bunch of highly overpriced other stuff. Do people really go to CVS on purpose to buy such stuff there? Or is it just impulse buyers who are already there to pick up a prescription?

I frequented CVS in prior years for toiletries (deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) but recently have found better deals at the local supermarket or even Dollar Tree store especially when using coupons. Now, my visits are limited to select sale items.

I don’t smoke myself but if CVS stops selling cigarettes, I’m not going. I only go to places that sell cigarettes. Even though I don’t smoke myself, I believe it is everybody’s responsibility to sell them. And that’s all there is to it.

I assume you’re aware this mentality or absence thereof isn’t limited to CVS.
