As a heartbeat monitor, great. The rest of it? Everything an Apple geek will gladly shell out lots of money for.

I think it’s a neat device, but I’m not sure if I want to drop $350 or more on one. I don’t think we’ll see the full capabilities of this until the 3rd party developers really start coming up with some interesting stuff, though (there is a “WatchKit” API being released for app developers).

One interesting feature not noted in the article is “Taptic”, which is the ability of the watch to provide tactile feedback by creating gentle “taps” on you wrist. Different tap patterns can be used to distinguish between, say, a Twitter notification or a reminder to turn left at the next intersection.

Watches will go the way of sundials, newspapers and horse buggys.
My “watch” is an iphone 5s.

"... The rest of it? Everything an Apple geek will gladly shell out lots of money for." Did you watch the live presentation? Apple iWatch will talk to credit card readers so you don't have to touch your credit card for purchaces, either at cash register or online, major banks and credit card companies already on board. It will also work with bluetooth devices like door locks, thermostats and room light switches.
Around the corner, Apple iWatch will work with bluetooth-based vehicle idiot lights and other dashboard indicators.
iWatch is actually a wrist front-end for the iPhone, supporting models from iPhone 5 I believe.

Apple, like Google, will track you and now will disclose your heart rate to the US Gov for Obamacare purposes.

Mmmm, a 4k Apple TV with ultra-high resolution movies added to iTunes, totally re-vitalizing the television market..
Oh, wait, it's a watch.
It's a nice looking iPhone accessory for the relatively modest price of $349, don't get me wrong. But it is an accessory, not a game changer.
On the plus side, all those broken paypass readers at the markets will likely finally get fixed!
