the teeth thing is more true than false. most of the people i met, i wouldn’t trade my mouth for theirs. it’s all about where they go, and if they go, for dental care. i had a small problem i needed to have taken care of and i went to a private (ie non-nhs) dentist and had it taken care of and i paid for it right there. most folks if they go to a nhs dentist may wait b/c they’re busy and don’t have to pay (or pay as much) and they pretty much weren’t happy with the service. i remember complaints far more than nice things said about nhs dentists.

It is always taught that you should write “properly” and use correct language in formal writing so that it is easier to understand when read

I am pro “Welcome to Sweden” tv series.

This is a thread hijacking.

“Do you even know what the difference is between Scandinavia and the Nordic countries? “

Nordic countries mean Finland too. The Scandinavian nations have common enough languages between Denmark, Sweden, Norway. German used to be the second language in Scandinavia until about 50 years ago. Prolly had to do with the English winning WW2.

What I did not know is that Iceland is a Nordic country. But this makes common sense. One mistake about Iceland is the average person thinks it is all Scandinavians there. Not true... A lot Scots and North Irish ended up in Iceland hundreds of yeras ago

What I excluded is — English is the now the second language in Scandinavia. German used to be. Plus German was a common language for scientific exchanges in Europe before WW2

According to my Danish Brother in law, swedes are a bunch of effeminate alcoholics that like to cross the bridge to Copenhagen to buy cheap booze, then sleep in public parks. (Liquor taxes, like all other taxes in Sweden are outrageous).

He also says that Scandinavia consists of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Finland doesn’t count because they speak some sort of ancient Mongolian shit language.

No offense, just passing it on.

All in fun, I’m just teasing you, although that’s exactly what he says. I consider it similar to how Oregonians talk about Californians.

Oregonians and Californians. The Norwegians and Swedes say similar things about each other.

"Misconception: British people drink beer warm or room temperature."

Wrong. That's no misconception.

When I lived in England, you couldn't find anything resembling cold beer. Anywhere. No matter where you went, beer was always served straight from the tap, and at room temperature.

In fact, I got so used to drinking it that way, it took me years to re-acclimate myself to cold beer when I came home.

When I was overseas in the military, we joked about British teeth AND hair. This was in the 80’s and every Brit I met had greasy unkempt hair.

A Turkish friend of mine took me to meet his English teacher (A real English girl) and after her diatribes against me because I was in the military, I proceeded to give her a piece of my mind.

My Turkish friend and his classmates wanted to hear and know the difference between British and American English. After she pissed me off, I told them “You can always tell a Brit from a Yank. The Brits have messed up teeth and greasy unkempt hair.” (she got quiet) “To me, British accents sound sorta cute on the girls, but the guys all sound like fags. That’s poofters in British slang.” She didn’t say a single word after that, wouldn’t look me in the eye, and all her class agreed with me. I then gave them a lesson on the difference between British and American slang. They loved it.

Genetics play a role in an overcrowded mouth, with too many teeth that just don’t fit and therefore come in crooked. The American practice of teenagers getting braces and even having “extra” teeth pulled in order to straighten out the teeth is apparently not at all widespread in England. Individuals of wealth and high station, even nobles, have a rather crooked smile that would seldom be allowed to stand by any middle-class American parent.

Also, considering that beer traditionally in Britain means ale which ferments at about 70 degrees as opposed to lager which does its thing at a chilly 50 degrees, all those delicious complexities in ale would be lost on the tongue if the beer was served 'cold.'

Cool is best, especially in a country where it struggles to reach the 60s for much of the year.

“The statistics you cited are from 1948.”

- Hahahaha!

Yes I realize that now. Should’ve scrutinized the site somewhat more than I actually did.
Mea culpa.

Anyhow, is it true or not that a lot of poor people in the US have poor teeth?

I'm not looking to find reasons to gloat over failures of the American society or anything like that. There are just as many things that aint exactly shining bright over here in Europe. Our teeth are one of them:)

Generally those in the US with bad teeth are those who are both rural and poor. Or those with meth mouth.
