when Roberts resigns for health reasons AFTER the election

************

I think Cochran may resign after the election should he win
and we’d have another appointee.

In 1968 LBJ attempted to elevate Associate Justice Abe Fortas to be the Chief Justice. Upon filibuster by Conservatives, Fortas was prevented from moving to CJ. He later resigned (the next year) amid alleged ethics violations.

This is an important role for Palin, she loves it when she can win big with a Ted Cruz and make big changes, but in this case her role is to signal that conservatives need to show up for Roberts, even if they are not enthusiastic about it.

Thanks again for the Ping Publius!

Ping to Sarah's Sunflower List!

Sadly Independence, KS is too far away from me to make an appearance, but at least Sarah will be in G-d's Country!

Palin being a good soldier here, understanding the necessity of removing Harry Reid as Majority Leader.

The humor of that having become the minority position here is going to be lost on a lot of people. She is one of the few (and deserving) heroes of the "I'm staying home and letting totalitarian leftists rule us" group that is so loud and seemingly in favor here.

I will watch the irony and shrieking on this thread with a little bit of schadenfreude.

:-)

Kagan got five Republican votes for confirmation. Sotomayor got nine.

Grahamnesty voted for both. Collins voted for both. Gregg voted for both. In fairness, Roberts did cast two no votes - so good for him.

But as an argument, you’ll need to do better. This is about weak Republicans as much as its about Reid. Until there is a conservative caucus in the Senate that will actually stand for something, I won’t be convinced.

It isn’t about Roberts. It’s about bigger picture stuff.

I believe she and her advisors now believe she will only be elected President as a Republican. Not an Independent. Not as a Democrat...which I would love to see her try. Fun times they would be.

I saw it. Thanks.

I still need to see action from Republicans rather than simply saying “Harry Reid bad. Republicans good.” Any third-grader can see that.

Roberts has lifetime ACU of 86 and it went up to 89 against Obama
Roberts votes about like Thune

I bet the farm bills lower both scores

Kansas is a real odd situation right now. The GOP-E needs the TEAM Party folks to turn out and vote for them in the Senate race, and the TEA Party folks need the GOP-E to turn out and vote for them in the race for Governor. It helps both races for the two factions to at least pretend to get along in this particular instance.

I don’t care for Roberts but I guess its the right thing to make sure the really good guys (Tea Party, Jeff Session types) in the Senate can do more rather than be behind both the Establishment and Democrat controlled Senate

Turnout and enthusiasm will probably make the difference

More likely that Fraud will be he deciding factor, these polls showing lose races have the sole purpose of prepping us for the results that have been predetermined.

I doubt Harry would have ever changed the rules if there was a chance the democrats would lose control of the Senate. Just my 2¢.

I don’t think she’s running for President, and I know she never has and never would think about running as an independent and certainly not a Democrat.

That’s not what this is about.
