An ex-cruise ship worker admitted to a federal judge Monday that he brutally beat, raped and tried to throw a passenger overboard because he believed she insulted his mother.

With no plea bargain offered, Ketut Pujayasa, 29, in a Miami federal courtroom changed his plea to guilty on charges of attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault.

Pujayasa confessed to attacking the woman, saying he believed she insulted his mother when she called him a "son of a bitch" after he knocked on her door to deliver breakfast.

Just wait for what he hears in prison.

‘Ketut Pujayasa’

You’d think a nice Amish guy wouldn’t have such a temper!

“He said he knocked three times and heard her say: “Wait a minute, son of a bitch!””

No one deserves getting attacked or raped like this, she but does sound like a rude tourist.

Some people say it as an exclamation of exasperation and not meant as a personal insult.

You’d have to hear tone to gauge it. If she included a 2nd person pronoun then it’s a direct insult.

Direct insult, yes. But to the “son”, not to the mother.

It’s saying “you’re the son of a dog”.

1. I don't tend to believe rapists.

2. If he is so tempered, to rape a stranger as punishment for a verbal insult, I fully expect that he would also pound on a door like an A-hole.

3. He is far worse than a son-of-a-bitch.

Smart guy, throwing himself on the US justice system, rather than back home (sounds like Southeast Asia).

Good point. Perhaps better English lessons would have prevented this misunderstanding. Maybe he can receive damages from the cruise line.

(how liberals would view it)

This is even more bizarre-—

A married NJ woman on a Caribbean cruise ship met a dorky-looking Greek petty officer. She left her husband and child-—and went to Greece to be with the dork.

Things went bad-—he was not who he pretended to be. She planned to leave.

He ended up killing her, mutilating her and beheading her b/c her body would not fit in a suitcase he planned to dump into a reservoir-—her head was dumped in the sea.

He brazenly reported her missing and even made an appeal on television...after he killed her.

Greek “justice” gave him a minimal sentence-—then let him out early-—to give him a “second chance.”

I love cruising, but think the staffing is a big flaw. A lot is done by franchisers who run parts of the ship. The staff is global, so they can't always communicate with each other. They sign contracts for less than a year, so there's a lot of transition, every leg of a cruise. They don't have the full knowledge of a ship a long-serving permanent staff would.

I'd think there are a lot more problems than we know about.

Rape is clearly more serious to the writer than attempted murder.

Having cruised half a dozen times, we have noticed international staff appear to be more and more from Muslim nations. I have not personally had any negative experience with the staff, all have been professional (NCL, RCL, Princess, Disney, Carnival)but it is obvious the percentage of Muslim staff is increasing.

A lot more to this story.

First, it was on a cruise chartered by an all nudist group. (Yes, there are all nude cruises, all gay cruises, swingers cruise, etc.) Before you beat me up about how this should not affect how men act towards women, it is part of the story.

Second, the ‘sob’ incident occurred early in the morning. Later that night, the rapist entered her room using his master key. He fell asleep waiting on the balcony. He woke up after hearing her enter the room and attacked her then.

This incident got a lot of publicity on the cruise bulletin boards.

Exactly. As she stood up to come to the door she hit her foot on the table. Or she broke a nail. Or spilled the coffee. It could be a million things that had nothing to do with the guy. Just a culture gap that spun out of control.

I never noticed any Muzzie staff on the Celebrity or NCL cruise lines.

I think what she said or didn’t say has nothing to do with the attack.. Evil needs no excuse and that guy is Evil!
