Did he write Christine 16?

Crazy how many Rock songs back in the '70's glorified "messing around" with underage women.

For the Black Sabbath averse out there...

Black Sabbath – Heaven And Hell Lyrics
Sing me a song, you’re a singer
Do me a wrong, you’re a bringer of evil
The devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you’re a taker
So it’s on and on and on, it’s heaven and hell
Oh well

The lover of life’s not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you’ll know that you’re dreaming
So it’s on and on and on, oh it’s on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell
I can tell
Fool, fool

Oh uh
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Well if it seems to be real, it’s illusion
For every moment of truth, there’s confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it’s on and on, on and on and on and on and on and on and on

They say that life’s a carousel
Spinning fast, you’ve got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It’s heaven and hell, oh well

And they’ll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It’s heaven and hell, oh no

Fool, fool
You’ve got to bleed for the dancer
Fool, fool
Look for the answer
Fool, fool, fool

Heaven and hell was about choosing well because the consequences are serious.

Thanks for setting me straight. I’ll see the deacon at church muy for Wednesday night service tomorrow and explain that it’s not true. He’s good guy but was evidently misinformed. And no, he doesn’t believe any of that Proctor & Gamble stuff going around 30 years ago. They did have a strange logo though. :)

Total urban myth. KISS is just a rock band and not a very good one at that - though they did put out one classic rock ballad ("Beth"). But they marketed themselves pretty well and used gimmicks, like spending the 1970s in silly clown makeup, and using pyrotechnics in shows, to get way more popular than they deserved to be.

As for being satan worshippers, that's completely baseless. Not even the band themselves would want to be known for that.

People just refused to dig beyond what they were told these guys were about. Basically the whole ‘Refer madness’ freakout applied to rock bands.

A lot of people missed a lot of good music and condemned decent people in the process. Way of the world unfortunately.

We've chatted just a few days ago and you're far more tuned into pop culture than I am. So I ask: What rock singer (or band) was known for biting the head off snakes (or perhaps it was a duck) back in the 60s or 70s? Was that another urban myth? If not, was it a real creature or just a prop? Yep, I am so naive and clueless about this stuff! Someone even told me that Eddie Haskell became a famous rock star but even I didn't believe that. :)

Ozzy Osbourne. At a record exec meeting. He was drunk as a skunk. Then he did it with a bat that bit him.

Stage act/attention whoring and drunk. It made him millions. Not that I think it was a great idea.

Saw that a while ago. Impressive stuff. Ever see the one with the kids in south America slums IIRC with violins made from garbage? It’s amazing. Wish I had the link still.

Well, Ozzy Osbourne had a schtick where he'd bite the head off a rubber bat at the end of the show. One day in Des Moines one of the audience tossed him a real bat - probably already dead - and when he bit the head off and spit it out they couldn't find it again. That turned out to be a problem, and Oz took the entire course of rabies shots as a result. NOT happy.

I don't know about snakes but there are two rock stars that were notorious for biting the heads off birds (usually bats or chickens): Alice Cooper from the 1970s and Ozzy Osbourne from the 1980s.

Now many urban myths are involved here too and would have you believe this was a regular staple of their concerts, but in reality they probably only actually did it once or twice. Rest of the time, they were using props.

” Led Zeppelin were into the occult. “

That was Page’s doing. He writes great guitar licks, perfect for the song, kinda like Keef. But Page is no great guitarist. To think that Beck hadda play second fiddle to Page is just ridiculous! And, I get the impression that he’s no mental giant either. Wrote good licks and good songs, but,,,,,,,,,.......

Ozzy Osbourne. At a record exec meeting.

Drifting the thread a bit, thay reminds me of this amusing story about Meatloaf, a portion of which reads:

In the early 1970’s, CBS Records’ Clive Davis and Walter Yetnikoff signed Meat Loaf to a contract under the Epic recording label. Due to his popularity, Davis and Yetnikoff took Meat Loaf one day to meet CBS Chairman and CEO William S. Paley.Unless you were a close personal friend of Paley or maybe Frank Stanton, he was always addressed as Mr. Paley or Mr. Chairman, never as “Bill”. CBS Broadcast Group President Gene Jankowski did the introductions and as the story goes Jankowski says, “Mr. Chairman, I’d like for you to meet CBS Records’ newest artist….Meat Loaf.” Meat Loaf extended his hand to Paley and says, “Yo Bill!!”

Needless to say that sent shockwaves to Jankowski, Davis, and Yetnikoff. But Paley had been dealing directly with creative talent for over 40 years by that time and CBS Records had been a part of the company since 1937, so he knew how they were. At that moment, Paley just gave a big laugh! And the CBS execs just gave a big sigh of relief! Like most successful media executives then and now, Paley knew that “content is king”.

The part that I always heard and not shown here is that after the "Yo Bill!!!" greeting from Meatloaf, the aging Paley uttered back, "Please to meet you Mr. Loaf".

Sammy was definitely a piece of shit. I have some stories from Vegas where I live, from others who are also as bad.

They probably weren’t smart enough to think of the acronym.

Sad pathetic losers they were/are.
