Ted Nugent blames 'plague of black violence' on 'Fedzilla welfare crack program'

Washington -- Ted Nugent, known by now more for his outspoken political views than his career as a rock singer, is making waves with a new column wading into the debate around Ferguson Mo., and race.

Nugent, riffing on the shooting of a Ferguson police officer who was investigating a break-in - an event unrelated to the death of Michael Brown - blamed "liberalism and their insane cult of denial" for a "plauge of black violence."

"It is liberalism that engineered and created the very conditions that have decimated and destroyed black American families and their communities," he writes in a column for World News Daily. Astonishingly and regretfully, the overwhelming majority of black Americans continue to vote for the very political party that has destroyed them."

Making an argument that lands somewhere between Welfare Queen's and Mitt Romney's 47 percent, he blames violence on poverty and poverty on "the big lie of liberalism."

"Race" being the keyword here, with hispanics counted as white in these FBI stats.

Anyways, like a Gibson Byrdland plugged into a wall of dimed Fender Super Twins, Nugent can be loud, bombastic, crass, offensive and painful to the ears. But I can't say I've ever disagreed with anything he's said.

Violent crimes are not “proportionally higher among black”. They are MUCH higher. Murders by blacks consist of almost HALF of all murders in America despite the fact that the young black men who commit the murders comprise only about 2% of the total population.

FBI data on the left and DoJ Criminal Victimization Survey (emphasis on survery) on the right. The survey data include crimes not reported to the police. Also for some reason the interracial victim-offender data Table 42 was removed from the DoJ Criminal Victimization Survey beginning in 2009. Gee I wonder why.

Aggravated assault is just one violent crime and does not have the exact same meaning for the two entries below.

Both seem to show the decrease.

The Violent Crime Index includes the offenses of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

• Violent Crime Index arrest rates increased substantially for juveniles in all racial groups between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. The rate peaked in 1994 for black and white juveniles, in 1995 for American Indians, and in 1996 for Asians. Following these peaks, the rates declined through 2011 for Asian (78%), American Indian (68%), white (59%) youth and black (61%) youth.
• The Violent Crime Index arrest rate in 2011 for black juveniles (627) was 5 times the rate for white (125) youth, 6 times the rate for American Indian juveniles (105), and 15 times the rate for Asian juveniles (41).
• In the 1980s, the Violent Crime Index arrest rate for black juveniles was 6 times the white rate. This ratio declined during the 1990s, holding at 4 to 1 from 1998 to 2004. Since 2004, the racial disparity in the rates increased, reaching 5 to 1 in the late 2000s.
