The world of television is about to get a little stranger - and a whole lot more dramatic.
Jane The Virgin is gearing up for its series premiere, and its plot line has already set tongues wagging.
The CW show follows a religious girl who has never had sex before, but ends up pregnant after her emotionally unstable doctor accidentally inseminates her.
Unsurprisingly the series, which stars Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camil, is already causing quite a stir.
Would it happen in real life? Probably not. Does that make it any less entertaining? Definitely not.
Jane The Virgin is loosely based on the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, which ran from March to October 2002, and discernibly winks at that by taking the over-the-top soap opera theme to another level.
In the pilot alone, viewers are taken on a wild ride while seeing, as the Latin Lover Narrator describes it, Jane’s world transform into her very own telenovela.
When Jane, played by fresh-faced star on the rise Gina Rodriguez, discovers she is expecting a child, she has a big decision to make.
The problem (or rather, one of the many problems) is that the former playboy father is a cancer survivor named Rafael, who just so happens to be the person Jane shared her first kiss with...

When a show starts with sex it usually means that it is planned to be one long climax.
Sorta like the problem of incurring a 4 hour you know.
After a while it ceases to be a good time.

Of course they couldn’t name her something like Shaneequa or Linda, it had to be Jane, an older name that is sometimes combined with Mary. And an immaculate conception??!! Could they be any more obvious.
I group this with ET, a movie about a being who dies and comes back to life with the promise of coming back, which I took as mocking Christ.

Cop Rock was the strangest TV idea ever. This one is just kind of one note. Accidental pregnancy is old, accidental pregnancy not resulting from drunken sex not that much different.
Every now and then I look up the YT with that last 10 or so seconds; the rest of the movie was a loony Dan Ackroyd faux-occult disaster, not unlike Ghostbuster II.
Nothing good ever comes out of hollywood.
At least it wasn’t the result of a dwarf coupling,
anyway I thought the title was, “Jane the Vegan”
a humorous look at the vegetably obsessed, carnophobes.
