DishTV has removed a number of stations! (vanity)

Dish TV has eliminated a number of stations (unfortunately, MSNBC was not one of them).

From their website:

"Our contract with Turner Networks (Turner) has expired and they have removed CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN en Español, Headline News, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies from DISH’s channel lineup

At DISH, we believe the customer should always come first. That’s why we work hard to bring you the best programming at a fair value. Learn more about our commitment to you."

Should I switch to DirectTV?

None of them would be deal breakers for me. I have directive BTW.

If they dump CNN are they keeping MSNBC? Can’t see how that channel survives.

You should switch to NO TV.

There is nothing on television. Why people pay to pipe garbage into their homes is beyond me.

I have Dish and will not miss any of them. I didn’t get Turner Classic Movies but if I did, that would be the one thing I would miss.

Yes switch — that’s what I did and no regrets.

They always go through this.

They'll both play hardball with each other for a week and then everything will be back.

More info:

WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Our contract with Turner has expired and they have removed CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN en Español, Headline News, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies from DISH’s channel lineup.
Currently, Turner is making unreasonable financial demands, and they have refused to extend the overall agreement. We are working around the clock to reach a fair and reasonable agreement with Turner.

Been tv free since then as well. The wife and kids still watch all of the shows that they want.

I do miss Aereo though.

Wow! They removed CNN? I’d hate to lose the Turner Classic Movie channel, though.

MSNBC is probably propped up by NBC.

Should I switch to DirectTV?

No.

Call Dish and tell them you fully support their efforts to stick it to the program providers in order to keep your bill down. While you're at it, tell Dish that they should force Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network to pay Dish to be in their lineup. Those two channels should subsidize truly meaningful content providers.
