that is just fine for an adult lunch-it is about what I eat-but kids are not fully grown yet, and need more food than that-like meat/protein for muscle and brain function, veggies for vitamins and fiber, etc.
I bring my lunch from home to work-meat/fish, veggie and fruit, fresh and 250-350 calories, but I’m an adult, not a kid. Michelle thunder thighs is telling public schools to starve kids by feeding them small helpings of processed crap I wouldn’t ask my pets to eat...

I think rather that parents should feed their children and leave the schools out of it. Why on earth are they feeding people.
I guess they are calling Fritos and such “corn chips” because it sounds better than junk snack food that public schools can’t serve...

I personally think the calorie restrictions are intentional for just that purpose. The progressives do not want effective schools.
Our fourteen year old grandson asked his grandfather for help with a linear equation the other evening at dinner. He said his teacher didn’t even know how to solve it and asked how he is supposed to learn if his teacher doesn’t know. When he gets home from school he inhales the contents of the refrigerator, and starts asking about dinner.
800 calorie meals! Vote Democrat!
Boycott by packing a 2000 calorie lunch. Let the bastards rip it out of your hands THEN call the press.
