On the contrary, I concede nothing -- you on the other hand have proven your immaturity. Somebody said all Germans ought to have been exterminated, to which you said "I like the way you think." As if that didn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt, you defended that line of thought as some sort of righteous "retribution." Now you ship oars and pretend you never meant it.

Rather than man up and admit what you said (that anybody can scroll up and see anyway), you revert to infantile twit comments. You clearly have nothing whatsoever to contribute.

I said I like the way the man thought and retribution, yup. You on the other hand won’t ‘’woman up and answer any of the questions I asked you, namely, how would you have conducted a strategic bombing campaign? And I asked you if your sorry America and it’s allies won WW2. And how do you feel about the atomic bombings of Japan? Was that ‘’murder’’? Obviously I’ve struck a never with you. Good. Keep giving me all that free parking in your head.

Oh, and here's something else for you to ponder, “In war there's no second place prize for the runner up’’ Gen. Omar Bradley. And I haven't ‘’shifted’’ anything. Again , show me where I said every German civilian should have been killed.

Thinking something does not make it so.

I have no patience with those of your ilk who want to second guess what a generation of war time leaders and soldiers did to rid the world of an evil unlike anything humanity ever faced.

They got rid of that murderous sneak-genocidal sociopath Uncle Joe Stalin during WWII? I had no idea...

It is somewhat amusing how you continually out yourself as a small-minded twit, incapable of arguing rationally but rather resorting to lame attempts at pinpricks. You never asked me anything about strategic bombing, who should have won the war or the atomic bomb. I doubt you've struck a nerve with anyone in your life — you certainly haven't with me, nor do you occupy the slightest space in my mind. Does it give you comfort to tell yourself, assure yourself, that somebody on the internet has given you a modicum of thought?

I've asked you three times how you would have conducted a strategic bombing campaign , I've asked you if you're sorry America and it's allies won WW2 and in the next to last post I asked you that if you considered bombing German civilians ‘’murder’’ then what to you consider the atomic bombings to be? You're either blind or a liar or both. Go back and look. But on second thought, forget it. I see that your sympathies apparently lie with our former enemies. I'm not interested in your nonsense anymore. Good day and good bye.

Bringing up Joe Stalin brings up an important consideration for not reducing Germany to a depopulated wilderness: at least Western Germany was still needed to build up into a bulwark against the rapid advance of the Soviets through Central Europe. Historian Ronald Schaffer observes that American military critics of the Anglo-American terror bombing of Cenral European and Balkan cities objected on 'practical and military grounds: it diverted resources from more crucial military objectives; it helped the Russians at America's expense'.

There was open military and political opposition to strictly terror-bombing (killing civilians and devastating civilian areas indiscriminately). There were also objections from Christians and (like the Bishop of Chichester) and ordinary British people who could not and would not stomach it morally. Britain's Jennifer Coope has done some good writing on this, as yet unpublished on the Internet as far as I know.

Coope also alludes to the way the Americans had to play Nazi and Soviet power off against each other.

They were similar: the Nazis called themselves National Socialists but were actually internationalists; the Soviets called themselves International Socialists but were actually nationalists. They were impatient, if not contemptuous, of morality. They openly admired each other's terror tactics.

Too many here do, too.

LOL, you pathetic moron. You never asked me once until your last post in which you insisted you had already asked the questions, what I thought about bombing, who won ww2, or the atomic bomb. You asked Mrs. Don-o these questions (courtesy ping), not me.

Were you to ask me directly now, I would not answer; my father taught me long ago not to entertain stupid questions, especially should they come from small-minded buffoons suffering form foot-in-mouth disease.

I hope your day is as pleasant as you are, cur.

Mrs. Don-O, you, all the same to me. Wouldn’t matter, you’re too stupid to be an idiot when it comes to WW2 . Cur, am I?. Piss up a rope you shrew. I’m sure you parents wanted children. I can’t image their disappointment when you came along.

"Mrs. Don-O, you, all the same to me."

LOL, well that just explains everything. When the lynch-pin of your argument is you insisting that you asked me a question when in actuality you asked somebody else, saying "you're all the same to me" just doesn't cut it. It simply displays a total lack of attention to detail.

"Wouldn’t matter, you’re too stupid to be an idiot when it comes to WW2"

Oh, the gormless oracle one has spoken, and his emotions are running high! Everybody take cover.

"Cur, am I?"

Yep. And a burbling, bescumbering hircus. Probably an uphill-gardener too.

As a fact of I’ve a number of people I speak to regularly about WW2 and find me quite knowledgeable about the subject. In mt spare time I volunteer with a group of WW2 veterans known as “VBOB” or Veterans of The Battle Of The Bulge’’ And a few years ago my wife went to Washington DC to see the World War 2 Memorial. It’s beautiful. My wife’s late father served with the 4th. Marine Division on Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima, where he was wounded.I also paid homage to my late Uncle Fred who served with 84th. Inf Div. In the ETO. And one last time you harridan, shut your trap and spot posting to me.
