The article isn't clear, but I believe the car was searched. The cop forcibly took the keys from the guy.

It clearly illustrates the “resisting arrest” ploy that cops use to justify violence against a citizen. “Resisting arrest” is nothing more than an excuse.

Standard answer to “Can I search your ______” is always, “NO”.
And to “We’ll get a warrant.” is “You do that.”
I got pulled over in Harpersville, Al. a few years ago by a young cop and his civilian sidekick. Power tripping bullies, both of them. Why pulled over? Headlight out. It was daylight. Headed home from work if was about 6:30 p.m in July.
They wanted to search my car. I said no. They wanted me to get out. I asked why. “Because I said so”. So I did. They put me in the back of the Charger. Turned the heat on and left me. Came back in 10 minutes and asked if they could search my car. No. Came back in another 10 minutes and wanted to search. No. Came back in 20 minutes and asked again. O.K.
Didn’t find anything. By this time it’s almost dark. “You have a good evening and be sure to get that light fixed”.
The idiot cop doesn’t work for Harpersville anymore. His idiot sidekick still lives there though. See him hanging out at the convenience store at the one light in town.
So, I gave up my rights for a little comfort. Call me a pussy, I don’t care. But if you’re handcuffed in the back of a Charger cruiser with the heat wide open in July, after awhile making a point begins to seem like not such a good idea.

But, but, he's had a very hard year! His wife said so!, I guess we should all just chill out and accept and excuse what these out of control law enforcement officers do because maybe.........they had a really hard year, month, week, day minute or second. You know what we would get if we told a cop hey sorry but I've had a really bad year........our azz kicked.
