BROOKLINE (CBS) — Some parents of fifth-graders at Brookline Public Schools are outraged over a page in their children’s US social studies textbook that suggests some slave owners living during the 17th-century America were compassionate toward their slaves.

There was a black slave owner just before the Civil War who was quite brutal and quite active in the slave trading business - the retail end. You could go to the school board meeting and support the parents using him as an example of how brutal slave owners were.
Turn their racial outrage around on them. (Heh-heh-heh)
The article stated that some were treated well and others were not treated well.
I guess they want the book to be dishonest and say all Southern Whites were devils and all slaves were perfect.
From what I know of the area, Brookline is very affluent and white-guilt oriented. “Celebrate diversity” bumper stickers on $80,000 cars.
Notice that I said "almost".
And just for the record to those unfamiliar with Brookline...it's a nearby suburb of Boston that is an absolute cesspool of ultra rich Maoists....a cellpool that would give San Francisco,Berkeley,Madison or the Upper East Side of Manhattan a run for its money in terms of the putrid stench it emits.
The Tank Commander (Mike Dukakis) was once the Chairman of Brookline's Town Council.

I'd often go visit my Dad when he lived there and while parked in front of his building I had a number of pro-life bumper stickers...and stickers for Republican candidates...ripped from my car.
Common Core have anything to do with this?
Brookline is a cool place.

One can do a search on these two assclowns (Ames and Conquest) and find other racial whining they’ve done over the years.
I suppose it depends on how one defines "cool".Yes,there's good shopping...yes,there's a certain "bohemian" air to Coolidge Corner...yes,it's easy to drive,or take the T,into Boston.
But it's hard to find a resident who's a genuine person of character.

On the hierarchy of lefty hate, poor whites seem to be the most despised.
There were an estimated 21,000 slaves in the US by 1700.
Haven’t read that many accounts of how they were treated.
There were thousands of black slave owners. Some were slave breeders and they sold their own children.
OK,so that means that when my Dad lived there there were at least *two*! ;-)
There were over a million and a half slaves in Brazil about the same time. Never hear about any of those, or every other country where people owned slaves. Wonder why?
In comparison to how many people have dogs, how often do you hear about a ‘Michael Vicks’ type story? Compassion is a common trait and has nothing to do with political or economic courage.
