Crack Up: Democrats Fracturing Over Obama's Executive Amnesty?
Townhall.com ^ | 11/19/2014 | Guy Benson

Having endured an electoral beating two weeks ago, and staring at poor-to-horrific polling, some Congressional Democrats may be getting cold feet on President Obama's impending immigration policy upheaval by executive fiat. A liberal blogger at the Washington Post worries that in spite of the fact that most Senate Democrats are locking arms in support of Obama diminishing their Constitutional power, some back-benchers from red and purple states may be nervously eyeing an escape hatch. And liberals are preparing a blitz of pressure to bring any wayward partisans back in line:

What happens if a half dozen Senate Dems defect and side with the GOP against Obama’s executive deportation relief? Immigration advocates are warning that this is a real possibility — one that could have a serious impact on the politics of this fight if and when a government shutdown battle looms — and they are preparing to exert maximum pressure on those Democrats they deem at risk. “We are preparing to pressure them at home and in Washington, to let them know that there will be hell to pay if this happens,” Frank Sharry, the executive director of America’s Voice, tells me. Among the Democrats believed to be at risk are Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, Jon Tester, Claire McCaskill, and Joe Donnelly. Angus King (who is an independent but caucuses with Dems) is also a question mark.

The problem, advocates worry, is that if these Democrats come out against any Obama executive action, it could complicate the political battle to come. Republicans are expected to try to pass legislation rolling back whatever Obama does. Democrats will try to block it. But if Republicans can get 60 votes — which they could do if enough Dems defect — the president would then have to veto it. That could make the politics of this battle worse for Obama: Not only is he acting unilaterally; he’s also facing bipartisan opposition within Congress that is requiring him to protect those unilateral actions with a veto.

Undermining The One's political position, even in defense of our Constitutional order, was once a high crime among Democrats -- but maps that look like this have a way of focusing the mind. The angry Left is starting to eat its own in general, with dozens of sullen activists picketing outside Sen. Mary Landrieu's home (on Capitol Hill, natch), expressing their hope that she loses her December 6 runoff election. It looks like they'll get their wish. Meanwhile, in an extraordinary scene, a liberal House Democrat was unable to answer basic questions about the legality of Obama's planned immigration decree…on MSNBC:

This could be the thing that starts the process of CW-II.

Exaggeration?

I think not.

Imagine a senate in which the media/lunatic left had no influence. Return the senate to the states to find out.

I think all Dems want this but know the backlash will be huge and not forgiven for YEARS.

We’re talking blue-collar, union supporters voting Republican for decades. The Dems always talked about how Republicans want cheap labor to replace Union jobs in the 80’s and 90’s, but if Obama does this he loses the union forever (in addition to Gruber’s comment about Cadillac plans).

It’s even more dangerous if Republicans defund it and it dies with a Democrat helped supermajority vote overturning Obama’s veto of it.

Democrats will attempt to protect themselves from the radioactive president. The more he puts them at risk the farther they’ll go. I can even see enough Democrats turning against him to remove him from office. It’s about their survival now. Obama may be willing to fall on his sword for communism, but the rank and file are only interested in keeping their power.

Yeah, I don’t doubt that January may begin the DEMOCRAT led impeachment proceedings against Obama. We may need a couple of months of scandal leaks to legitimize it first, though.

Joe Manchin needs to switch over to our side.

The President of the United States is going to wage demographic war against the people who elected him to office.

Contrary to popular belief and the lack of press coverage not everybody in the Democratic Party is on board with amnesty. Plenty of blue collar Democrats in the heartland of America don’t want it. They know it will affect jobs and wages. Even in blue Oregon Democratic voters did not want illegals to be issued driver’s licenses. The Democratic leaders clearly want to do whatever they want but the rank and file said no. This will be a divisive issue with them. Maybe the kool-aid is getting rancid.

Dividends like this - which MOST FReepers anticipated - make Nov. 4 all more sweeter.

And I love journalists who effectively know how to use the word ‘natch’.

I’m shocked Lawrence O’Donnell, a raving lunatic leftist, was asking the hard question: on what legal basis can the President create a new protected class of immigrants? No one could answer the question.

Here's another question, one dripping with monumental irony:

Why on Earth would blacks support amnesty? The largest and surest block of Obama voters, those who count him as "one of our own" (though I don't know why**}, would be screwed the worst by a glut of low-skilled labor.

** Obama's white side features some slave owners, and his black side is - at best - from Africa and was never slave. At worst, some of his African ancestors, being Moslem, were themselves slavers.

Right. I have been trying to find out Hillary's position on executive amnesty. It seems she has been hiding out since the midterms. If she oppose executive amnesty, she will have trouble with the Democratic base. If she supports it, she will have trouble in the general.

If (HRC) oppose(s) executive amnesty, she will have trouble with the Democratic base. If she supports it, she will have trouble in the general.

The same can be said for Obamacare, which is just Hillarycare in a suit instead of a pantsuit.

Protest every advertiser at MSNBC and CNN for supporting amnesty.

Let’s see how many advertisers we can get to pull their dollars.

If it doesn’t get 60 votes, you run ads about every democrat refusing to be the 60th vote.

Nail it to their a$$es.
