First off I would like to point out that the entire question is inappropriate. We’ve had lots of fun talking about whether this tactic would be effective. But the bottom line is that, assuming she’s telling a true story, he has no right to armchair quarterback her concerning her decision whether to fight or not. Now back to tactics:

Sure, assuming she’s a pit bull, but is that true for a human? People bite each others ears off all the time, but I can’t recall seeing a human bite mark that penetrated very far into the muscle. Does this happen? Do people bite each others penis off? Bottom line, in her situation, she would have to be pretty confident in the result before trying something that might just piss him off.
A good journalist should never just assume he's being told the truth. If anything, he should assume he's being lied to. He should ask tough questions to determine which is the case.

I’m not a penis-bite doctor (if that exists), and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night either, so I can only speculate on these questions. I suppose we could get out a napkin and try to do some calculations about average bite-force and the tensile strength of an engorged member, but that might be in poor taste. I just hope I never find out from first hand experience.
