A drunken New Smyrna Beach bicyclist whose drive-through order at Taco Bell was rejected because he wasn't in a car refused to leave the restaurant then tussled with police, according to an arrest report.

Gabriel Harris, 33, was charged with resisting an officer with violence in the late-night incident and was out of the Volusia County Branch Jail on $1,000 bail, records show.

Well I call BS on your BS, I take the fact that I was there managing at the beginning of the fast food drive thru explosion and had more than a couple decades with them to speak from experience. Diverse never trumps insurance.

I know a guy here in Indiana who was in a car at a McDonald’s drive-up, but he was so hungry (and drunk) that he started eating his order as soon as it was handed to him.
Of course other patrons wanted their orders as well, but he was intent on his meal so the police had to gather him up, and gave him a place to sleep it off.
[No, it wasn’t me.]

As a wise fellow once said, "Time wounds all heels."

Good way for the window workers to supplement their income, I reckon.

Last time I went to our local Taco Hell/KFC, the gal working the drive thru was the one who was sh!t-faced

“Do you want Original or Extra Crispy?

“Original please”

“We’re out of Original”

“OK...Give me extra Crispy”

“We’re out of Extra Crispy”

“OK...just give me a couple of tacos”

“We’re out of taco meat”

Our McDonald’s has a small yellow sign next to the drive-up, printed on it: “Deaf Employee”.
The wife and I always look at each other and ask, “What’s up with that?”
Just today I asked for a Bacon McWrap with no garlic sauce (for my better half) and the gal replied,
“Did you say, just a little sauce?”
No. None at all.
“None at all?”
Nope. None.
Now we now what the sign means.

I recall visiting friends that lived in Canoga Park, in LA and 2e would b3 all drunk and send someone to walk through the drive through at the Jack in the Crack for late night sausage egg and cheese sammiches.

This is standard practice in Midwest- especially close to the cities.
No foot traffic or bicycle traffic in the drive thru.

It’s activated by the weight of the car.

From personal experience, motorcycles are allowed to as they are motorized vehicles. In practice, the stupid magnetic sensors are often so detuned that they don’t pick up the motorcycle entering the field so the system doesn’t react to tell the order taker someone is there. Motorcyclists can sometimes adjust for this by mounting a special magnet to the bottom of their machines to increase the magnetic signature of the vehicle.

Amusingly, ones so detuned that they won’t pick up a motorcycle also sometimes have problems with big 4x4 trucks as the low-level magnetic field doesn’t extend high enough to actually be affected by the giant steel axle.

LOL at that mental image. In the future I could see us being able to send out our personal drones to fly by Micky D’s to pick up our orders. (not in our lifetime though, drats!)

Okay that was dumb of me, sorry. First of all where would the food go, the drone would need to be outfitted with a basket large enough to carry it and second of all how does it count out the money and then make sure it gets the correct change back. And lastly what if the drone decided it was too hungry to resist eating the food itself on the way back home?

Best mug shot ever. Normally not a fan of bicyclists, but now I like the guy!!

You have to kinda admire people whose mug shots say "I don't give a ...."
