They put their lives on the line every day for us. 99% are good guys.

I know quite a few of them, and you are right they are good guys.

But they do not put their lives on the line for us, they are taking the chance of putting their lives on the line for the profession.

No different than college professors, the # one reason they are there is not for the education of the students, but for the furtherment of their own career, they are not sacrificing.

Bull. First, being a cop is hardly that risky. Few actually fall to violence. Not even in the top ten dangerous jobs.
Second, if 99% are so good, why do they have no ability to deal with the bad ones? Why is it the so happily stand up for and protect the bad ones.
Third, no amount of good makes anyone above criticism.

This arrest was idiotic, and should be called as such.

That is right, while the cop in Ferguson had a right to protect himself he is the one that started it to begin with by using police mentality instead of common sense.

The ones in Junction should have saw that it was nothing to be concerned about.

Homework for tonight:

Warren v. District of Columbia

“The trial judges held that the police were under no specific legal duty to provide protection to the individual plaintiffs and dismissed the complaints.”

Fair enough. Please be sure to spread the message on Police One that henceforth, police are to cease and desist:

*raping women they pull over as an incentive to “get out of” a ticket. ( http://opnateye.com/?p=1228 )

*stalking to the point of recreating a crime, culminating of the rape of a sexual assault victim

*Abusing and/or killing their own wives or girlfriends

*Sexually assaulting a five year old child with a pencil.

*Shooting senior citizens with dementia or alzheimers

*Shooting dogs

*Stomping cats

*Shooting handcuffed suspects in the back of the head and ruling it a “suicide”.

If the worst they are receiving is ridicule for pretending not to tell the difference between a banana and a gun, that’s a pretty sweet deal, isn’t it?

Wrong. They are primarily interested in their own safety.

It is drilled into them at the academy—officer safety is paramount.

Given a choice between jeopardizing his life and jeopardizing yours, guess which one most officers will choose?

Banana pointed at cops -- felony menacing.

Cops point loaded shotgun and pistol at a kid? Proper procedures were followed:

When cops start getting charged with "felony menacing" every time *they* aggress against a citizen, they'll go back to using reason and persuasion.
