Strange. Driving home I saw people parking in illegal areas because everything else was full.

I did too and the traffic is horrendous. I think both sides are out of wack as typical. They all exaggerate all the time.

I share your sentiments exactly! It's crass and obscene, especially now that stores have gone to their Black Friday openings on Thanksgiving Day afternoon. I can't open up email without a thousand black friday emails pouring out. Spend! spend! Spend!

I'm checking out of the annual shopping orgy and will focus on the reason for the season. Good friends, family and a warm delicious meal will do it for me.

No one I know is doing any Black Friday shopping. Don’t know of anyone going all out on any gift giving. Everyone has too much junk and doesn’t want any more.

Yup. I gave up when in one store I couldn’t even get to the end of the line: whenever I got to where the end was, it had already stretched to the other end of the store. Then trying to do that store after store... Just not worth it.

Mall traffic in Upstate SC is moderate at best. Extended hours, on line shopping, mediocre economy, and perhaps fears of civil unrest from Brown's people. All possible reasons.

Our Wal-Marts were packed. I like walking around and watching the shoppers. Everyone was pretty polite too.

South Florida malls are barely busier than a typical Saturday.
Lots and lots of empty spaces.

I see a significant number of these “gibsmedats riots” occurred on Black Friday in the UK. Without a Thanksgiving Day, isn’t “Black Friday” just “Friday” in England?

It’s the standing in line that would drive me nuts.
