There’s a gay character on the show now but it doesn’t really play into the plot in any meaningful way.

I agree. She looks so young. I had no problem believing she was a teen on the show.

The difference in Mad Men and Breaking Bad is that they were designed to last a certain amount of episodes. Look it up. Their story arches were specifically numbered.

Shows like TWD usually last until either the lead characters leave for greener pastures causing the show to decline, or they jump the shark.

You can’t compare Mad Men or Breaking Bad to regular programming.

I didn’t get Beth’s comment to the cop she scissored... what did she mean that she finally got it? That the cop wouldn’t let anyone leave unless they died? And did the cop accidentally shoot Beth just because she had been stabbed or was she going to shoot her anyway rather than let her escape? Wish TTD would have gone into the explanation a little.

Sad that he had to tread lightly, giving the homosexual mafia the caveat that at least there would be (another) homosexual character introduced next season. There is already one homosexual in the group. They won’t be satisfied until the ratio is over 50/50, even though in real life homosexuals make up less than 10% (probably closer to 1%) of the population.

Yeah, I’m not sure about Beth’s comment to Dawn either, but I do think Dawn shot Beth as a reflex action — not deliberately. Dawn’s facial expression seemed to suggest that it wasn’t intentional.

I wasn’t impressed with this mid-season finale. Beth’s death seemed forced; like the writers knew they needed a character death and just kinda threw something together on a character that (let’s be honest), isn’t a fan favorite.

That was a rough episode, but it hurts me more for Maggie than anything else. She’s going to have a very hard time of it now.

It never bothered me that she didn’t go on about Beth...I just figured she was stifling her emotions because she couldn’t afford to break down.

I know, right?

It’s so ridiculous that TWD writers even need to fill a homo niche in a show about a zombie apocalypse. Utterly stupid.

For me, her disassociation seemed unrealistic. I mean, look how focused Maggie was in finding Glenn, even though she didn’t know whether he was alive. But with Beth, her own sister...nothing. I just think the writer’s could have given her a few lines to Glenn in 1-2 prior episodes about her missing Beth or something - anything.

Wouldn’t a person understandably be more focused on finding a spouse than anyone, though? I can kind of understand that.

I don’t know...I think it was a writers’ mistake, and I read they were going to address her failure to mention Beth, that there was a reason for it. Maybe they will in the back end of the season.

I’m watching Emily Kinney now on Talking Dead, and she can’t stop crying.

That would be Tara, the girl that was with the Governor, that’s part of the group now.

I think you’re right. I wasn’t that upset about losing Beth on the show. Just about every other long-time character’s demise made me sad that they were no longer on the show. But not Beth. In fact, the only reason I WOULD be sad that she left the show was that she had been a part of the cast a long time. There really was no other attachment.

It was on the loss level of someone like Bob, who wasn’t on the show as long and hadn’t gotten as much air time. Beth was a hysterical child who tried to commit suicide, got in the way, caused others to risk their lives for her, was basically just a babysitter, and was not missed much when she was gone, even by her sister.

Beth was good on The Talking Dead. You can see that these actors have bonded deeply and I’m sure that’s part of the reason their characters are so believable.

No other character who was killed off on TWD cried while talking about their character on TTD.

That was hard to watch.

I agree. Lauren Cohan was also very emotional when they briefly interviewed her, and Norman Reedus said he cried for an hour before they filmed the scene.
