Not 100% sure what this means, wtd? If the son was up to date with the pertussis vaccine and still got whooping cough... does that mean there is a new strain?
Just wait until your kids come home with Dengue Fever, Malaria, Yellow Fever and other fun filled diseases from Meh-hee-ko!
How many future democratic voters were sent to their area?
"Not 100% sure what this means, wtd? If the son was up to date with the pertussis vaccine and still got whooping cough... does that mean there is a new strain?"
The actual video and written report offer no clarification beyond providing a link to the CDC which states:
"While pertussis vaccines are the most effective tool we have to prevent this disease, no vaccine is 100% effective. If pertussis is circulating in the community, there is a chance that a fully vaccinated person, of any age, can catch this very contagious disease. If you have been vaccinated, the infection is usually less severe. If you or your child develops a cold that includes a severe cough or a cough that lasts for a long time, it may be pertussis. The best way to know is to contact your doctor."
Last year, every student of nearby Indio High School (Indio, CA is probably 90% Hispanic) had to get tested - twice - for tuberculosis.
Bark like a seal!
The sub-Rio Grande strain.
Yup the third world has arrived with all of its disease and pestilence.
One of the reasons that someone comes down with pertussis even though vaccinated is because they use weaker dosing these days because of all the yelling and screaming when any had a reaction to the stronger vaccines
No it means that current vaccine is weaker than what used to be given. That occurred some time ago due to law suits and anti-vaccine hysteria
Obama imported germs, gangs, and superstition when he pulled his open borders stunt. Children have died because of it. He should be prosecuted for willfully endangering American citizens.
I think you’re probably right, but where did the boy come into contact with it in the first place? I’ll bet the vaccine has been weak for years, yet no one had come down with it until now, and now we are hearing of outbreaks in many different areas in the country.
Your thoughts?
The vaccine has selected for resistant/uncovered strains.
Kind of like antibiotics do if overused.
The vaccine was weakened over 25 years ago. We’d have seen outbreaks in vaxd kids before now if that were the case.
If you deport the invaders you also deport all the disease.
Just another attack by Bath House Barry the Kenyan Usurper on the American people.

“We present evidence that in the Netherlands the dramatic increase in pertussis is temporally associated with the emergence of Bordetella pertussis strains carrying a novel allele for the pertussis toxin promoter, which confers increased pertussis toxin (Ptx) production. Epidemiologic data suggest that these strains are more virulent in humans. We discuss changes in the ecology of B. pertussis that may have driven this adaptation. Our results underline the importance of Ptx in transmission, suggest that vaccination may select for increased virulence, and indicate ways to control pertussis more effectively.”
No, it's been know for a while the vaccine doesn't prevent it. Last year, there were several threads on FR about it. I read an article awhile back reporting something like 80 cases and all but a small handful had been vaccinated. The reason I'd been reading up on it was a relative had a baby and the doctor (and mama and grandma)wouldn't let anyone in without the vacination. Thing was, you passed muster if you stopped at the nurses' station for a shot 5 minutes before arriving at the maternity ward. Yes, for real. Ridiculous. So much drama was made over getting the vaccine that we decided we'd better not subject him to our germs until HS graduation. Of course, the baby was carted all over the city the day they were released and in day care within two weeks.
