Grandpa had previously taken his grandson to shooting and gun safety class.
Charlotte – Burglars had tried to break into George and Anna Marie Wyant’s home near Mint Hill at least twice, so they kept a pistol hidden in the house for protection, hoping they’d never have to use it.
On Tuesday, their 14-year-old grandson was visiting. He was sick with bronchitis, and Anna Marie, 73, had just had hip replacement surgery. They were taking care of each other while his mother and the rest of the family was at a Christmas party.
The teen was headed to the kitchen to make his grandmother a bowl of rice when they heard a back window break around 5:15 p.m.
A few minutes later, Anna Marie Wyant told a 911 operator what had happened.
“The man was breaking into the window,” she told the operator. “He was halfway in the window. My grandson told him to stop and get out of here and he didn’t so my grandson shot him. … Somebody just broke in the house and we shot him.”

The robbery/home invasion thing is getting out of control. A few weeks back there were over 20 in the span of a couple of weeks in the next town over (very nice area). The local police department had a town hall meeting to quell nervous residents fears and give tips on preventing.
It was different people doing them too because sometimes they were kicking the front door in, sometimes smashing windows, etc.
Actually, he’s got the mettle. He should get a medal for handling the metal well. (No not really that anal. Just having fun with homonyms.)

The rest of the story. The dead perps brother was tracked down by his ankle monitoring device for breaking into the same home a few months earlier.

Just busted recently...I need to see what the dead kid has....
Isai Robert Delcid has no adult arrest record in Mecklenburg Co.
The 14-year old will be required to attend sensitivity training and take Spanish lessons.
However, shooting lessons will not be necessary as the young man seems to have that down pat.

Why do you say he needs training? What a ridiculous comment. Are you hard of reading? The kid’s had training. For all you know, the first shot killed the guy, and the kid threw in a couple more for good measure. He was probably trained to do that.
