He won some matches over quality boxers like Bob Foster and Cleveland Williams. He went 15 rounds with Cassius Clay and he was correct to call him by his given name instead of his idiotic claimed name.
In fact I prefer to call Islam by the name of “Mohammedanism” just because I don’t want to use the name they prefer or submit to them in any way.
He wasn’t a really good boxer in terms of technique, but he had the home run punch. Sometimes it landed.
I think he would have been only a few notches above club fighter if Ali hadn’t picked him as an easy opponent in his waning years. Terrell was better than he thought—or Ali had faded more than he thought—and then his reputation was made.
In a way, he’s the Black Rocky.

I believe that you are thinking of Earnie Shavers...Ali carried Terrell for 15 rounds and beat the snot out of him...
Clay/Ali took the slight very personally.
You are right... Terrell was the tall guy who was a nothing. Shavers had the big right hand.
Imo, that is what damaged Clay's brain.
Ali also “carried” former heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson and beat him hard for refusing to call him his Mahomet moniker.

Cassius must have been pissed badly to hit him so hard that it killed him 47 years later!
