They didn’t have a socket wrench on the space station? Really?

Yes, but that set is SAE...

Meh, I once faxed one of my technicians on a job that went over schedule some spare underwear, that was 15 years ago...

Maybe they did and they broke it. (I know I have broken a few of ‘em.)

I want a cell phone with all the latest gizmotech but looks and acts like the Star Trek Communicator, the FIRST flip phone.

BTW folks and fellow Freepers, that term ‘gizmotech’ is my own creation, so feel free to use it liberally, er, conservatively.

"IF I had a choice, I’d go back to my Motorola RAZR flip in a heartbeat. Damn near indestructible phone."

Still got mine, regardless of all the "upgrade" crap Verzon keeps hawking. No need to social network 24/7 like much of the world seems to.

I have always loved that i can pick it up and not turn on a half dozen thing accidently with the damn side buttons. If decent replacement batteries were available, and not hir or miss Chinese junk.......

Oh sure, but that was a brief endeavor by comparison. This isn't the kind of thing you just find in a set of drawers. In short quite different.

Anyone remember the scene from "A Spaceman In King Arthur's Court". The astronaut has been captured and hauled before Arthur, Merlin et al, but he still has his helmet on, complete with gold plated visor.

Arthur & Co. think he's some sort of a insect.

"Let's cut it open and see what is inside."

"If I could get this helmet off, you would see that I'm a man. Does anyone here have a wrench?"

(Arthur to Merlin) "A WENCH? Well, as long as he doesn't do anything unseemly... Come here, wench!" (he commands to a passing servant girl.)

The astronaut has the girl hold his head/helmet in a headlock then rolls his body around, thereby unscrewing the helmet. The girl is left holding the "Head" (helmet) and faints.

Would you prefer the WENCH in RED

or the WRENCH in GREEN?

it just never occured to me that the technology (and electrical capacity) was already available up there.

I didn't know about it either. But, it is pretty recent: this story was published last month: The ISS gets its Zero-G 3D printer

This is apparently the company that built it: Made In Space. Their website says it was launched into orbit on 2014-09-21.

They need a metric adjustable wrench.

I’ll bet the truth is he needed a socket of a specific size that had been lost. Reporters don’t get the facts very straight.

History might someday see this as the first “star trek” type transport of an object from earth to space
