I guess he hasn't heard of the knockout game. Clearly not the 'knockout' game.
He hasn't heard the last of this.
Sounds like a 'contract' warning. Or mistaken ID.

I suppose it could be mistaken ID, but if he was then intended target then NOT robbing was to make sure he didn’t miss the message. Esp. having something happen so far from his home.
And how about that weatherman who got shot?
And remember the guy in, where, Florida? He was some kind of professor (maybe even a law professor because I think I saw it first on Instapundit). This guy was killed, like right in his driveway or something. Nobody seemed to have a clue as to why.

And since he can’t remember anything other than bar hopping in the French Quarter we would never conclude that a lawyer (those upstanding examples of adulthood and sobriety) could have gotten so drink that he was in a black out and feel face first into the sidewalk.....

Wonder what? He’s a lawyer. He should expect to find himself knocked on his ass quite often. Isn’t that a clause in their malpractice insurance?

Must have fit the victim profile. Me, my head would be swiveling like crazy and my hand would be gripping my pistol if I were walking in NOLA.

I'm thinkin' that this gentleman incurred the wrath of somebody who felt he let them down in court.
Probably somebody with a group of friends who have lost faith in the legal system who are willing to use violence if he directs them to.
Maybe gang-related. He should probably think of this one as a warning.
