Thank you for the lovely opening, Amy. Happy you see spring.
We are cold until Sunday then warmer temps and rain in the forecast. Thankful for a good chance of rainy days.
Hope you are feeling better and getting lots of rest.

January
The days are short,
The sun a spark,
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.
Fat snowy footsteps
Track the floor.
Milk bottles burst
Outside the door.
The river is
A frozen place
Held still beneath
The trees of lace.
The sky is low.
The wind is gray.
The radiator
Purrs all day.
John Updike Have a wonderful thankful Thursday, everyone!

Thanks, Meg. I’m still on antibiotics for another 3 days. I’m feeling much better. Not coughing as much and energy level seems to be improving.
As you can see, I’m only here for short periods of time .... trying to get lots of rest.
Hope you are well. I thank you for posting everyday. I’m thankful for you!

Hello Amy! I hope you are feeling well.
MEG, Howdy and thanks for the colorful bouquet which I think is made up of freesias.
Trisham, thanks for the poem and horse pic, and they look like the Gypsy breed to me.
News Flash, I painted my larger bathroom on Wednesday. Took a long time, but it looks very nice. Just a few touch ups to do now. It took one gallon of paint to do one medium closet, a small and large bathroom. I have 3 gallons left. Maybe the hallway is next, in a week or so.
Cheers, All!

We just arrived in Virginia, got a much later start than I wanted. We went to pick up the rental and had to end up waiting till 1:30 before we hit the road. So now we will drive all day tomorrow to get to Savannah.

A Consistent Life
February 27, 2015
Read:
Daniel 6:1-10 | Bible in a Year:
Numbers 17-19; Mark 6:30-56
While studying the book of Daniel, I was struck by how easily he could have avoided being thrown into the den of lions. Daniels jealous rivals in the government of Babylon laid a trap based on his consistent practice of daily prayer to God (Dan. 6:1-9). Daniel was fully aware of their plot and could have decided to pray privately for a month until things settled down. But that was not the kind of person he was.
When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days (v.10). Daniel did not panic, nor bargain with God. Instead, he continued just as he had done before (v.10 niv). He was not intimidated by the pressure of persecution.
The lesson for me was the power of Daniels life of consistent devotion to the Lord. His strength came from God, whom Daniel wanted to please every day. When a crisis came, Daniel didnt need to change his daily practice to meet it. He simply stayed committed to his God.
Father, I want to stand for You when persecution
comes as Daniel did. Give me that same bold
commitment to pray and not to be ashamed of
knowing You. Help me to live my faith publicly.
God empowers us to stand for Him as we bow to pray.
: Daniel's three friends were thrown into the fiery furnace (Dan. 3), and Daniel was thrown into the lions den (ch. 6). These stories teach us that God is in control, even when it doesnt look like it, and we can trust Him.
