ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE — Pope Francis said Thursday he is convinced that global warming is "mostly" man-made and that he hopes his upcoming encyclical on the environment will encourage negotiators at a climate change meeting in Paris to make "courageous" decisions to protect God's creation.
Francis has spoken out frequently about the "culture of waste" that has imperiled the environment and he elaborated en route to the Philippines. While there, Francis will meet with survivors of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan, which the government has said was an example of the extreme weather conditions that global warming has wrought.
"I don't know if it (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face," he said. "We have in a sense taken over nature."
"I think we have exploited nature too much," Francis said, citing deforestation and monoculture. "Thanks be to God that today there are voices, so many people who are speaking out about it."

Maybe the Catholic Church is the harlot spoken of in Revelation after all. It would explain much of what we’ve seen lately.
If we have contributed to all these maladies and the Pope indicates man is largely responsible, then sort of walks it back, maybe population control is going to become a papal priority.
Maybe abortion starts getting a free pass.
Less people slapping nature in the face.

This pope is a fool. Same with the American Cardinals.
When they embraced left-wing politics (amnesty, gun-grabbing, big government, income re-distribution, etc.) they lost me for good.

My deepest sympathy goes to my Catholic friends for having a leader such as this. Especially after the powerful leader, John Paul II, and the intellectual, Pope Benedict, were on the scene.

There will a remnant in the end times, but they will love Christ more than their lives and the ridiculous church traditions of Catholicism and political nonsense of the mainline Protestant churches will be completely forgotten.

I wish! Actually, I did see an article somewhere analyzing the conditions for calling a special council to depose the Pope...it’s happened three times before (once for an early pope who offered a pinch of incense to idols, and I believe the other two times were situations where there were multiple popes, for one reason or another). So you’re not the only one thinking about it!
