True, he kept telling his partner “he’s reaching”,, I think he was trying to get the jackass to keep his hands up, and maybe then he could get the pistol. But the ex con was planning his attack/escape.
Likely he was facing parole issues if he was arrested in possession of the gun.

The officer told him repeatedly not to move...he kept moving around in the car and not complying with the officer’s orders...then he moved one time too many.
Black on black...it’ll be interesting to see how they smear the officer as an Uncle Tom or some such.

... it's a pretty logical step to making the conclusion that your life is in jeopardy every time you come into contact with a police officer. --
Well, I think that is a rational presumption to adopt. Then, depending on the encounter, one may conclude that the presumption does or doesn't hold.

The video is not clear enough (to me) to see what the passenger was DOING inside the car ..
The shooting did not occur while the suspect was in the car.

He didn’t shoot him for the mere presence of a gun. And he was very polite when he first approached the car. All the ex con had to do is comply with the hands up and remain still commands.
And he’s been in prison, he knew exactly what he was doing. I’m glad he got shot. And it in no way translates over into normal people getting shot.
Unless with a gun sitting within grabbing distance, you plan to argue and not comply with what the officer commands at that moment.

Why was the cop pulling the door open if he didnt want the passenger to get out of the car?Although it's hard to tell for sure from the video, it appeared to me that the cop was holding the door shut, and the passenger kept trying to open it. Since that follows the 'conversation' between the officer and passenger ("don't you get out") it would make more sense.

The passenger got out of the car and took a big step towards the officer. Bang. End of story.
Anybody know if the Jag is for sale now?

The convict was looking for trouble. All he had to do was sit tight and do what they said. He decided to reach around, and force his way outta the car.
He found the trouble he was looking for. More air for me to breathe.

True, but how many times was he told not to move?
I don’t recall hearing him being ordered out of the car...
That’s the “one move too many” that cost him his life.
The driver complied and wasn’t shot...I see a distinct difference in the actions of the two persons in the car and the result of each person’s actions.
