I hope this question is not too personal.
Does anybody have Medicare Part D and take Victoza and if so how much does Medicare Part D cover????
Second, novo nordisk hasn't been of much help. They sent me an instant savings card that says on the back (in two places) that the card is no good if prescriptions are paid in part or in full by any state or federally funded program including medicare..........
I took the card to Walmart and they were on the line with novo nordisk for 30 minutes which ended with novo nordisk saying the instant savings card is no good WITHOUT other coverage like medicare part D??????????
I already know I have to pay a penalty for being a late subscriber to Part D but I have seen no exact reference to if and how much Part D will cover Victoza....
Well you have yourself in a mess. Since you do not have a Plan D and a preexisting condition you might not be able to get coverage. Costly mistake on your part.
Not all Plan D’s are the same. I use USAA through Humana and Walmart for $16.00 per month. Use generics and they mail them to me quarterly.
Not that I would Use them but call AARP. Find out how big your problem is. Then go to Medicare website and see who offers plans.
As for price, call around and ask each pharmacy in your area. Sometimes Sam’s has even cheaper prices than Walmart and you don’t have to be a member to use the pharmacy. As far as coupons and discounts go, they often have that caveat that if you are on medicare you can’t use the coupon. It may have something to do with obamadontcare, who knows.. They make up the rules as they go along. The only way to know is to try the coupon.
Naahhh ... he always had t’pee on Bahney Millah
We get my mom's stuff from Wally World. They have her insurance info on file, so they can tell us the final cost of things.
It depends on so much you can’t get a straight answer.
My wife has MedicareBlue Rx Premier from BCBS of Minnesota, it’s $48 copay for a $90 supply.
But, MedicareBlue Rx Premier costs $125 per month.
I forgot to say you need to check each plan’s formulary, this gives you the info you need for that plan. Each plan is different.
And then it depends on which pharmacy you use, too.
In answer to a previous post just so you know Victoza is NOT the same thing as Metformin. Metformin helps metabolize existing sugar within the system. Victoza promotes the cells wiothin the pancreas to regenerate and become more effective. They are often proscribed in tandem. My wife is Type 2.
As far as cost: Walgreens about $300 a box (3 pens or about 1 months use) with Walgreens saving card Sams about $290 a box with Sams membership Costco about $300 a box with membership
Some places will accept an AARP membership for an additional discount.
As far as the Novo discount program the requirements are as follows:
Patient Assistance Programs for Victoza
Patient assistance programs (PAPs) are usually sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and provide free or discounted medicines to low income or uninsured and under-insured people who meet specific guidelines. Eligibility requirements vary for each program.
Good luck FRiend

I guess I missed something. I thought getting Medicare Part D was the insurance????? Now I get the drift that besides signing up for Part D I must also get another insurance plan that covers prescriptions??????????? I thought part D was the plan....... Guess not:<((((
Oh, and I’m already at the max with metformin.
I read a book by Dr. Joel Fuhrman called “End of Diabetes.” I followed his advice and lost 20 pounds and my sugars went from over 200 to around 120-140. Another six months of these good numbers and I will be able to decrease most of my medication.
I was on Bydurean for a while and have already stopped it. Also went from 60 units of insulin down to 10 (and that could be stopped as well).
And I shudda added that the wife, with psoriatic arthritis was prescribed enbrel. Went down to Walmart and nearly had to call 911. The prescription was $3700 with ins covering $600. Why do they market drugs 98% of us cannot afford??????
I actually have Medicaid so I only have to worry about a small co-pay but some diabetes supplies have no co-pay.
I take Metformin and Glipizide and I am about ready to stop taking any medications. Except my B-12 shots because they are actually helping with my memory.
Sadly my true cost of medications are paid with side effects and “discontinuation syndrome” which I didn’t even know anything about until the week of Christmas.
Looking at the potential side effects of Victoza I would tell my doctor hell no if she prescribed it.
Plan D is for prescriptions however each company offers a different degree of coverage. I use generic drugs so USAA plan works for me. If you have non generic drugs another plan would be better for you. Call the companies with your drugs and let them tell you what is covered and what is not.
