That's not London Bridge! Fed-up local trolls hapless tourists who mislabel Tower Bridge in
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 6, 2015 | Sarah Gordon

It is one of the most common mistakes made by tourists visiting the capital - referring to beautiful Tower Bridge as London Bridge. But a father-of-one has found the mislabelling of the iconic landmark so frustrating, he has launched a one-man campaign to correct tourists from around the world. Charles Lawley, from London, trawls Instagram looking for users who have who have made the mistake as he gets a kick out of correcting them. His typical reply is 'That's Tower Bridge not London Bridge.'

Many years ago, my aunt was working in the State department when a letter was received from a European who was planning a trip to the USA. She was seeking guidance and wanted to know it it would be better to see the Grand Canyon in the morning and the Smithsonian in the afternoon or the other way around. She clearly indicated that she meant on the same day.

I visited the bridge in 1975 in Lake Havasu City when the numbers were still fresh on the stones. That was four years after construction was completed. It was the strangest thing seeing that beautiful bridge in the desert. It was a stroke of genius by the developer to buy and build the bridge — what was a remote, dusty backwater (somtomspeak) really took off.i haven’t been back in forty years — now the area seems to be only known for drunken spring break bacchanalia. Oh to be young again!

Good history on Wiki.

It depends on whether you are willing to fight the afternoon traffic on the tollroads.

Idiots...every good American knows that are teleporter facilities that run 24/7 at both locations...I’d go with Grand Canyon in the morning, Smithsonian later in the day. Tourists? Beaming up and over at your convenience.

Depending on the map, the Grand Canyon and Washington DC are anywhere from 6-18 inches apart. So, it IS possible to do both in one day!

Okay, had to check Wiki, but there is still a London Bridge, and there has been one since the middle ages. The modern London Bridge spans the River Thames, as does the current Tower Bridge, just at separate locations.

The current iteration of the London Bridge was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The new bridge replaced the structure that was built in the early 1800s, and torn down in the 1960s. The 19th-Century bridge was purchased by an American, Robert P. McCulloch, and most of the structure was moved and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City, AZ. This 19th-Century bridge actually replaced a medieval bridge that was more than 600 years old.

While in Ireland, a guy asked me where I was from. I’ll never forget his response, “America? It’s so big you could fit three Irelands in there.” Made me giggle. People not from the US have absolutely no concept of how big it is.

When I was a kid, my teacher told the story behind the song "London Bridge is falling down" and how it was after a raid by the Vikings. I wondered why the Vikings would travel all the way to Arizona to attack a stone bridge?

A Texan is visiting Israel and feeling thirsty, he stops at a house along the road. “Can you give me a drink?” asks the Texan

“Of course,” says the Israeli, and he invited the Texan to come in.

“What do you do?” asks the Texan.

“I raise chicken” says the Israeli.

“Really?” says the Texan. “I’m also a farmer. How much land do you have?”

“Well, out front it’s 50 meters, as you can see, and in the back we have close to 100 meters of property. What about your place?”

“Well,” says the Texan, “on my ranch, I have breakfast and get into the car, and I drive and drive and I don’t reach the end of the ranch until dinnertime.”

“Really,” replies the Israeli. “I once had a car like that too.”

I met an Australian who had landed in California, rented a car and driven to the East Coast. Along the trip, his hair fell out from stress. He told me that in Australia, there are a few cities on the coast, and it is empty inland, but in the U.S., every hill you crest has another huge city below. Hill after hill after hill.

People not from the US have absolutely no concept of how big it is.

Conversely, people from the US generally don't realize how small Europe is.

And, as has already been pointed out, how big Russia is.
