US Marines ordered to SURRENDER WEAPONS before evacuating Yemen Embassy.
The Kelly File/Fox News

Posted on 02/11/2015 6:14:17 PM PST by Toespi

Meghan Kelly just reported that Marines were ordered by the state department to remove clips and surrender weapons before leaving the Yemen Embassy. She reports that it is unprecedented, backed up by Jack Keene. Marines under that order are furious.

According to the news this morning we did have landing craft and choppers offshore but they weren’t used.

I was going to question also but thanks for addressing a common yet annoying mistake. Another is LEOpold for Leupold - check the website if you have doubts.

Typical behavior of this administration, and frankly our, now almost liberal leadership in the military. They bow to Islam, to be sensitive to their religion, by making decisions that harm his country. When the story leaks or breaks, they send their mouthpieces out with snippets to counter the blowback. Then we go, oh gee, it wasn’t as bad as originally reported. This has been their mode of operation from day one. They once again successfully silenced a vital story with clouded garbage talking points, just like Ebola, IRS, BENGHAZI, F&F, illegals, the list is too long, but I think you get my drift.

There wasn’t any equivocation on this report, it was supported by what was referred to as “ senior military”, a report from a Marine who was there, another guest and Gen. Jack Keene. I highly doubt Meghan Kelly is going to lead with such a volatile story without confirmation. I’m going with Meghan.

Article also on TheConservativeTreehouse.

Were I a Marine, I’d have been willing to stand up to this order.

Yep, it’s all about keeping the Marines safe, and using public transportation when at all possible.

Or it’s a violation of longstanding tradition that makes the US look weak and confused.

Sort of depends on how you spin it, huh?

Just so you know, this was not a “commercial” flight, as you have stated. It was a pre-arranged contracted plane to facilitate the evacuation of the Marines. Their personal weapons were taken from them and rendered inoperable before they were allowed to board the plane. (hope they checked to make sure Mohammed wasn’t at the controls) Do not give the impression there were Marines sitting in their seats with flight attendants asking if they want a pillow and the beverage cart trolling up and down the aisle while babies and moms were cooing in their seats.

It used to be a time when someone posted a duplicate was reminded and gently reprimanded. Now if someone - like yourself - points out the obvious, you get flamed

And there was a time when the mods removed or locked a dupe thread. For the very reasons you mention.

Now? Now it’s common to see 6-8 threads on a single issue in just a few hours. Someone gets up - sees a story on Drudge or similar site - and FReeps it. With nary a look to see that there are previous threads with 50-100 replies on them.

Mods don’t care. And Jim? Too busy running FReepathons.

“that a lot of people’s purpose on this site is to just bash the left at every turn and if you get off on that cool.”

Now that you mention it we do “get off on bashing the left”. And if you don’t care for our style, as you have only been a member one day, it is “cool” if you get off.

I don’t get it either.

No one knows what that linking text “Next page” means at the bottom of the page?

Last night, Megyn Kelly announced the Marines-Yemen story as breaking news even though it was at least a half a day old. FR exploded with nearly identical threads.

I guess news isn’t important unless it’s announced by a short skirt.

And Jim wonders why he’s losing donors. We are deeply into the Twitter era of FR. I’m not sure that it’s going to turn around.

Very interesting, do you have a source? Everything that I have read says "commercial". Of course, expecting facts only in any media story is believing in the Easter Bunny. If it was a contract flight, that would be consistent with other State Department run evacuations: State Department in charge, contract aircraft for all State Department personnel, including the Marine Security Detail. Destroying weapons before departure could be State Department SOP, they certainly were prepared to do this and, I suspect, did so on order from the Chief of Mission (State Department Dude).

There are just as many reports calling it a “contracted” plane, which is far more logical, but I do not have facts and none of us will until those on the plane tell us. But it is utterly naive to believe US Marines, being extracted from a US embassy in a hot zone would be placed on a commercial flight, jeopardizing the safety of regular civilians, should the plane be attacked. A commercial plane owned by civilians means, it was a non-military US government owned plane. We will see.
