Meghan Kelly just reported that Marines were ordered by the state department to remove clips and surrender weapons before leaving the Yemen Embassy. She reports that it is unprecedented, backed up by Jack Keene. Marines under that order are furious.
Okay, I’m over your crap. The Marines were placed on a Southwest Airlines plane, they unarmed themselves, waited in their boarding zone while helping moms with strollers.. They then showed their boarding pass to the attendant, and waited for their peanuts.
There are also reports that their convoys were under fire. I don’t know the truth other than what was reported on the Kelly File and by the way, you don’t either. You want to believe what has been reported with the intention of downplaying a report that obviously enraged the public, have at it.
I never said they should stay, and nobody wants to see another Alamo to make Obama look bad. Your read on it pal, not mine.
I guess asking for an orderly withdrawal without smashing small arms is too much. If that qualifies as bashing this administration then so be it.
I wouldn’t equate MSNBC at all with Fox News. Nowhere near quality and information.

As a follow up, I am watching Meghan interview Jen Psaki/State Dept. about the Yemen evacuation. Meghan asked her who gave the order for the Marines to disarm, Psaki denied it was the State Department, then Kelly asked her if it was the ambassador which she answered no, yet she declined to answer who actually gave the order. Psaki had no answer other than things were changing as to why there wasn’t a military transport to evacuate. She said nothing about a necessary disarmament because of the plane being commercial. There were twenty AMERICAN vehicles seized by the enemy and the US embassy has been taken over, all confirmed by Psaki of the State department.
What’s ridiculous is putting Foxnews and MSNBC in the same basket. Thanks for the laugh.

And I ask again, is it too much to ask for the current administration to have a clue as to what having Marines destroy their weapons before being “allowed” to leave a country descending into chaos looks like to the world? About the only time you destroy your weapon is before a surrender.
As others have pointed out in this thread, and I can attest to, the US military travels all over the world on non DOD aircraft with weapons, mostly put in storage. It’s just like going hunting, you can fly with your rifle but you can’t carry it on. It’s not that simple on international flights and frankly this fiasco smacks of what happens when there is zero planning and no communication between the uniformed and suit and tie sides of the equation. The result of crappy planning looks and feels like crap. Try to polish it with “Meghan Kelly overstated it” and “no machine guns on commercial flights” all you want, it’s still crap.
You register the day of what amounts to a Public Relations disaster for either DOD, State or the entire administration, and only post on one thread about that disaster, defending a crap sandwich. You put up straw men to knock down, and keep repeating the same mantra about machine guns on commercial flights and moral equivalency between MSNBC and Fox.

My source is my Congressional reps office who I called today, after they researched they called me back with this information. I did this to settle BRAVO down who seems to have a problem.
No, it was not a commercial flight. It was a commercial plane, contracted to take the Marines, Embassy workers out of Yemen. Commercial means, it was a privately owned plane (for charter) contracted by the U.S. government. It is referred to as commercial or civilian which draws the distinction between being a military/government owned plane.
