Could there be a more lopsided comparison in the history of sports. Who’s better, Payton Manning or Tim Tebow. I mean really. One is the best quarterback in the history of the sport, and the other could not win a spot on the Montreal Alouettes. Where do this people come from. The cool aid is flowing.
One TD pass does not make a career. Tebow’s problem was that pass was the only good one he threw. How many good passes do you think Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers have thrown, more than they could count, not just one. I was a pitcher in college baseball. If you put me in a MLB game, I could get a few major league hitters out, but not enough for any team to keep me around after that outing. That is Tebow’s story also.
Exactly. Part of the problem is the hoopla around D1 football. People see 90000 cheering SEC fans in the stadium and assume that everyone in the conference is destined for NFL success. It doesn’t work that way. The NFL is a whole different level of ball.

They might be able to help improve his throwing accuracy, but nothing is going to improve his football IQ. I watched every NFL football game Tebow played, and not only did he nearly always throw the ball into the receiver’s feet or 10 feet over their heads, he also didn’t have a clue how to read a defense or how to read off his receivers.
He pretty much had a single receiver picked out he was going to throw to right from the get go, and looked at that guy the whole time.
And the last NFL game Tebow played, he was no better than the first one at reading the defense or reading off his receivers.
I can only assume Tebow was uncoachable, not because of a bad attitude, but because Tebow simply isn’t very smart.
And I don’t need to hear a bunch of guff about Tebow’s Christianity being the real issue. Peyton Manning is every bit as devout as Tebow, but Peyton also happens to be a genius of an NFL quarterback, unlike Tebow.
Really, performance is pretty much the only thing that counts in the NFL, which, sadly enough, is why a POS like Jameis Winston is going to be the number one draft pick this year.
If every team could have a Rogers or Brady, the league would be a lot different. There are a lot of mediocre starters and a lot of terrible backups. Why aren't you comparing him to Blane Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Jason Campbell, Ryan Lindley, or someone like that?
(Blake Bortles had an 11 to 17 ratio, compared with Tebow's 17 to 9 ratio. I bet Bortles is still a starter)
Actually I think Tobow and Sam are both out of football for the same reason: nobody wants the circus. I have no doubt that Tebow could at least be a third stringer on some team but nobody wants to deal with all the baloney from the media. In Michael Sam's case, he's probably not very good but I suspect someone would have given him a shot but nobody wanted to deal with the constant "what's it like with a gay guy in the locker room" and all his own self promotion. Easier to just cut him loose and move on.

Glad to hear his accuracy and spiral have improved.
But, his biggest problem has always been reading NFL defenses.
If he doesn’t see what he’s expecting, down comes the ball after a couple seconds, and he’s searching for a running lane, which he usually can’t find, either.
My memory is fuzzy but 1-15 is hard to forget

I'm a Denver Bronco season ticket holder and I like Tim Tebow. Manning is considered (and is) a great QB but the criticism of him choking in big games is valid. This past season it was against the Colts in the playoffs, the previous season against Seattle in the SB. The SB game against Seattle was a classic choke, Seahawks had points on the board within seconds of the game start when a pass from center went over Mannings head and into the end zone ... recovered by Seattle. The game went downhill from there ...

Sam never played a game in the NFL. He played some preseason.
T-bow took a team to the playoffs.
That T-bow didn’t land a new gig is a surprise.
I would take Tebow over Romo any day!!

He can certainly escape pressure...and run over some of it. That part wasn’t his issue.
Tebow had plenty of zip. He often zipped the ball right over his receivers heads. What he had wrong with his throwing motion was largely a *very* long windup, which telegraphed where short passes were going.
