Republicans vote against Pi Day. WHy?
vanity

Posted on 03/14/2015 7:26:45 PM PDT by rey

I understand that in 2009 10 Republicans voted against House Resolution 224 a resolution making today, 14 Mar, 3.14, Pi Day.

Why would anyone be against this? Is there cost in passing such a resolution and if so how much?

The ten who voted against: Chaffetz, Jason, R-Utah, 3rd Flake, Jeff, R-Arizona, 6th Heller, Dean, R-Nevada, 2nd Johnson, Timothy V., R-Illinois, 15th Miller, Jeff, R-Florida, 1st

Neugebauer, Randy, R-Texas, 19th Paul, Ron, R-Texas, 14th Pence, Mike, R-Indiana, 6th Poe, Ted, R-Texas, 2nd Shuster, Bill, R-Pennsylvania, 9th

Well, then, it's obvious to me that the Republicans are anti-geometry, anti-education and they hate the children.

Could it be they're waiting for 3/14/16?

"Why would anyone be against this?"

Because it's frivolous. If some private group wants to declare "pi" day, let them do it, but why should the federal government be involved?

They want to make pi an even 3.0 using Common Core.

3.1416 IS an acceptable optimization good for most all calculations except for moon shots.

But then NASA isn’t capable of going there now and who plays euchre anymore?

They understand that tau ( = 2 * pi) is the true great constant of math. pi is just an interloper that talks big but can't do much useful without "2*" around to give it the boost it needs to equal tau.
