European media report that German authorities have found “importance evidence” in Andreas Lubitz’s home. Lubitz was the co-pilot of Germanwings flight 9595, that he purposefully crashed in the French Alps.

Although the German police don’t want to share any details at this moment, they say that the evidence explains why he committed this horrendous mass murder.

In the meantime, it has become clear that Lubitz had serious psychological issues. He was hospitalized in a mental hospital back in 2009. When he was 27 years old, Lubitz apparently suffered from regular panic attacks. He was still being treated by a psychiatrist and had to pass “special psychological tests” by his employer. He received his last treatment only weeks before he purposefully flew the plane into the ground, thereby killing himself and all other 149 people on board.

Yeah...we can bet on drug reactions and a host of reasons why the guy shouldn’t be a pilot.

I wonder whether laws in Germany prevented any inquiries into his psychological history.

Lufthansa is in deep doo -doo here.

This guy never should have been put behind the controls of an airliner for psych reasons and Lufthansa willfully continued his flight training instead of washing him out like they should have.

Worst yet, Lufthansa operates their own flight school and were aware of they guys issues even before he started his training but kept him on throughout the training process.

Health problems related to HIV, perhaps?

Fox reported this morning that in 2009 he was deemed “unfit to fly”. They also said that a recent breakup with his girlfriend prompted this plane crash.

He was forced to listen to a Taylor Swift record?

It’s reported that he had a doctor’s note excusing him from work that day, but he tore it up. Finding that in a trash can would certainly constitute important evidence, but there is probably much more than that.

Alps crash co-pilot Andreas Lubitz hid the details of an existing illness from his employers, German prosecutors say.

They said they found torn-up sick notes in his homes, including one covering the day of the crash. - BBC

Wow. I can’t imagine the payout to families of the victims this airline will have to pay.

If the airline culpability in hiring someone like this is proved, could the families of victimw claim punitive damages as well?

Obviously the treatments didn't take.

Funny, I thought he was gay as well. But maybe not, if there’s a breakup with a girlfriend.
