Another call to arrest climate “deniers”
Watts Up With That? ^ | April 7, 2015 | Eric Worrall

Posted on 04/08/2015 10:37:37 AM PDT by Stymee

Adam Weinstein, of the Gawker, has added his voice to the growing list of greens, who demand a brutal authoritarian response to the vexing problem of people who have a different opinion.

According to Weinstein;

Man-made climate change happens. Man-made climate change kills a lot of people. It’s going to kill a lot more. We have laws on the books to punish anyone whose lies contribute to people’s deaths. It’s time to punish the climate-change liars.

This is an argument that’s just being discussed seriously in some circles. It was laid out earlier this month, with all the appropriate caveats, by Lawrence Torcello, a philosophy professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

There is a boatload of retorts in kind that could be made, if the right would just stop letting the cat have their tongues.

“Man-made climate change happens. Man-made climate change kills a lot of people.”

Just need one example that’s “true” and I will believe.

Good point.

WHO estimates that somewhere between 367,000 and 755,000 people die from malaria each year.

That means “DDT deniers” are responsible for 2 and 5 times as many deaths each year as are “climate change deniers”

I’d also ask, changes with respect to when...

The actual science behind it is boringly unalarming. Once satellites began to watch global temperatures, they became like the watched pot that never boils. Boringly stable.

I don’t know that most of the really know better. They should know better, they have no excuse not to, but they seem to willfully refuse to acknowledge reality.

“We have laws on the books to punish anyone whose lies contribute to people’s deaths. It’s time to punish the climate-change liars.”

What is the punishment for someone “whose lies contribute to people’s deaths”? Isn’t arrest implicit in the punishment process?

Do not help the libs deny the obvious conclusions, from which they try to hide, of their totalitarian views and statements.

I don’t think Hitler ever said “take them to camps and gas their a$$es” in public. But it is certain it was in his heart from the beginning.

Those denialists should face jail. They should face fines. They should face lawsuits from the classes of people whose lives and livelihoods are most threatened by denialist tactics. …
Do you think Weinstein was talking about arresting these people, or summary punishment?
But First Amendment rights have never been absolute. You still can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater. You shouldn’t be able to yell “balderdash” at 10,883 scientific journal articles a year, all saying the same thing …
And why not? especially when it is balderdash? but these evil people like Weinstein treat it as religious doctrine, just as Aristotle’s geocentrism was back in Galileo’s day.

Anti-science luddites refuse to look at the science and see the predictions and all results are the opposites of their warming predictions.
To them I say, come and take it, suckers!

I disagree.

Liberals are active on behalf of people they don’t care about in order to control people they hate.

They are perfectly consistent about this. It works in every example you can come up with.

They even hate each other. It’s how they keep such diverse groups of interests in line. Teachers unions feeding at the same trough as abortionists. Environmentalists feeding at the same trough as construction unions.

Everybody is guilty of something too. Step out of line, and the press knocks you out of the box - immediately. Ask Robert Menendez or Bill Cosby.

If Al Sharpton suddenly developed a conscience, you think he wouldn’t be in tax court tomorrow morning, for example? Sharpton hates Obama - threatened to cut his nuts off. No problem. Obola hates Hill, and Hill hates him back. No problem.

As long as control over people who can’t be bought or who have some sort of moral compass is maintained, all is permissible and encouraged (not forgiven, but remember forever).

In the end, the liberal has to control everything. Nothing engages in self-hate like a liberal either. It’s why classes of people get protection, but individuals do not. It’s a miracle that Clarence Thomas, for example, made it. Checked all the right protected class boxes too.

This is why the republicans are looked upon as the stupid party. They aren’t. There is consistency there too. They want a seat at the table, just like the liberals do. They might do a bit better job of maintaining some sort of moral compass, but you can tell when they’ve got the goods on one of them (Boehner, McConnell).

Adolescence suggests an immaturity, or something behavioral. Liberals have a code - hatred. It’s manifested as control. It’s simple from there.

Everything they do from that perspective makes sense - Solyndra, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the Branch Davidians, name it.

Reagan was the exception. Bush, and his son, were the correction.

AGW? Why push so hard? Because now you’ve got a truly global cause that isn’t based on a political philosophy, a religion, or even economics. You can then come after entire countries the same way Fedzilla comes after States.

They thought they had the science fakified sufficiently, but its falling apart now. It’s what the NYT understands that the rest of us who understand the scientific method don’t. Surely you could put together a small scale experiment to show how CO2 creates a greenhouse effect, right?

“What, are you a DENIER? Why don’t you BELIEVE?”

They come after you with that kind of old-time religious fervor, like regular Billy Sunday’s.

Liberals are people who are active on behalf of people they don’t care about in order to control people they hate.

That’s the bottom line. There is no argument a liberal can put up to refute this definition. No examples exist, except to prove this is correct.

Well put. There is a theory that malignant narcissism and related conditions, like sociopathy, are just the result of arrested development. The theory is that all children have a natural narcissist/sociopathic period of their development, but some people never grow out of it, probably because they lack strong father figures to teach them their proper place.

I think there is a similar trend going on with leftists.

The Ronaldus Magnus pretty much captures the premise of Libtardism.....

Ronald Reagan — ‘It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.’

"They’re like children."

Very petulant, repugnant children. If I had a child who behaved like this, I'd either send him to Reform School, or, if he's young enough, boil and eat him before his bones harden.

George Orwell was prophetic when he said in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

And, Cato economist Dan Mitchell:

Making the world look at their right hand (climate)
while they choke developed economies with their left.

The right hand:

Paul Watson, a founder of Greenpeace
"It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true."

Jim Sibbison, environmental journalist, former public relations official for the EPA
"We routinely wrote scare stories...Our press reports were more or less true...We were out to whip the public into a frenzy
about the environment."

Stephen Schneider, Stanford Univ., environmentalist
"That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic
statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have."

Richard Benedik, former U.S./UN bureaucrat
"A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect."

The left hand:

Club of Rome
"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water
shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill....All these dangers are caused by human intervention....and thus the “real
enemy, then, is humanity itself....believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to
realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is “a real one or….one invented for the purpose.""

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UN's Framework Convention on Climate Change
"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period
of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.

Timoth Wirth, U.S./UN functionary, former elected Democrat Senator
“We’ve got to ride the global-warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing
in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.”

Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official
"We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy…Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy
separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate
policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."

Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Enviroment
"No matter if the science of global warming is all phony...climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about
justice and equality in the world."

Richard Benedik, former U.S./UN bureaucrat
"A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect."

This is the logical consequence of the ‘hate-crimes’ movement which punishes people more for their thoughts than their actual crimes.

Why anyone would think they could look into the minds of people and then decide that a person is guilty of not being in tune with the minds of their rules, thereby is subject to punishment.

This is nothing more than tyranny. Shades of Nazi Germany and Communist Soviet Union.
