“As for the taser moving, Slager picked it up and moved it from the area where they were fighting to a spot near Scott’s body as seen in the video. To me there’s not much mystery there.”

Right...He purposfully corrupted evidence at shooting scene for no reason.

Even is it was a loaded gun they wouldnt move it until it had been photographed as evidence.

The only reason to move the taser was to back up his version of events.

“I damn sure if Slager had a taser barb in him at least one of the respond officer would have reported it.”

The police game is, to let the video taped story play out for a few days, let all the eponymous facts come out then start building a narrative that fits the scene and witnesses but favors the cop as much as plausibly possible.

That’s why you hear Cops yelling and screaming over corpses ... “Don’t Move!” “Put your hands behind your back!” “Stop resisting!”.

Then the unwritten rule among most cops. If your around and something goes down for another cop, everybody joins in. That’s why you end up with 11 cops beating on one handcuffed guy, or 5 cops shooting a suspect 53 times.

To me it’s evident that Scott had the taser and either tossed or fumbled it from the motion of their bodies and the motion of the gun. You can see this as the first few frames play. I think it’s harder to tell what’s going on from the individual frames by themselves because you lose the sense of motion.

Once one gets past 70, things take much more time. I am happy to hear that you think it will be a simple thing to master.

I will set aside some time as see if I can get the hang of it. I have been here long enough to remember how folks used to wreck the threads in efforts to post images, and how they would get yelled at by other posters.

I decided not to try back then, and let it for the “techie types”.

BTW...I could have even believe “hey I screwed up”...until I saw him move the taser...and as a certified pistol instructer I CAN tell you there is nother other reason to try and put 8 shots into center of mass(front or back) other than to kill.

I am not sure I know how to link the image. If you go to the link below, and scroll down the page, about 1/5th of the way, as it is measured on my right hand scroll bar...

you will see a still image that has a column of red typed text, with a list of 4 points marked on the image. Title of the list is “where is taser at this moment?”

If you don’t have the same kind of scroll bar, just scroll down till you see the red text, it is the only image that has the list...

Yeah, maybe. I’ve always thought that looked like bad intent on his part. OTOH, it seems odd that he’d plant evidence right in front of the other officer. It also seems possible he was just getting control of a loose weapon so it wasn’t laying around before the scene was totally under control.

There are enhanced photos showing that the perp used the taser against the officer, and when he turned to run you can see that the cartridge was trailing out behind him.... So as usual there is more to the story than what the media says there is.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that he decided to kill him, and it’s pretty obvious that that’s what he did. I just think he made the decision to kill when it was justified, then failed to unmake it when it wasn’t.

Look, I think the cops guilty. But I don’t think he was changing the crime scene. He’s gotta be dazed and confused and a little in shock himself.

But you can assert he quickly dropped it when the other officer was arriving.

Anyway, no way will the cop be convicted of Murder one. Nor should he be. There’s just no malevolent aforethought — Unless they Feds try and make it a hate crime.

2nd Degree murder is a possibility, as evidenced by the shooting in the back and final deliberate kill shot.

But it will probably end up as manslaughter or negligent homicide.

It would be a shame if he was found not guilty.

It was reckless and poor judgement and probably linked to official training procedures that in themselves are improper.

Yes!

Thank you so much! I do not know how to do this. I hope to learn someday, and overcome a fear of failure.

Does it look to you like it is just seconds before Scott throws the taser with his left arm (which we cannot see, while Slager is grabbing Scott’s right arm), over Slager’s shoulder or side?

To a certain extent yes. You do not have to speak to police even if arrested and jailed. Perps generally talk to an attorney to get their story straight. In many cases they never tell their story at all.

Which videos. I’ve watched them all and saw no such thing. Even the enhanced ones. All I’ve seen is a wire to Scott and a wire to the Cop, the cartridge dragging behind Scott and the Taser about 4 paces behind the cop.

Scott could have grabbed the taser cartridge then the cop realizing that the taser is now useless, throws it down in order to pull his gun.

You do not use a taser close quarters and you don’t use one while you have one hand grabbing the suspect. There was probably some distance between the two when the cop first deployed the taser.

Some of those men might try not creating children who require child support until such time as they can afford the support? And some women could learn to keep their legs crossed until they’re with a man they’re married to who can and will support any child(ren) that might be conceived. Just a thought.

Tellya what - we'll line the men all up in front of you like they did at the gate of Auschwitz, and you can stand in front of them in a big black leather greatcoat and examine the perfection of their lives - compared to the perfection of your life. Then, with a flick of your finger right, or left, send them to court that acknowledges them as having equal rights under the law and equally shared responsibility with the mother, or not.

:spit:

I do not know much about South Carolina law, but have read others who say that there is no second degree murder charge in S.C.

Are there any lawyers here who could help us understand how the laws work there?
