Excuse me? Men consistently poll as more “pro-life” than women.

You’re not alone in that. Many of us are very fortunate for not having had to go through this.

I agree with your comments.

Take care.

Horn dogged men won, those who want to spread their seed around without responsibility or consequences. Decent men and families lost big time.

When I was about 14, my Dad had a talk with me which can be summarized as follows:

  1. God gave man enough blood circulation to supply either his dick or his brain, but never both at the same time.
  2. Don't put yourself in a situation where your brain shuts off until such time as you've married the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. Nobody else has your interests at heart by the time that you get into this situation.
  3. Even looking at a woman's private parts can and does turn many a man's brains into oatmeal and is often the first step down the slippery slope to #1.
  4. Refer to point #2. It is good timeless advice regardless of what popular culture says.

I had the same talk with each of my daughters (modified for their gender) and, thankfully, they followed it.

I’m with you. But, I have sons. A boy working at the corner market can not pay the consequences, at least in coins. Forget about it.

They better think of something else. Fast.

If girl-momma can not financially afford the coin and the consequences either, then on that one point all things are equal. Adoption is the only answer I can think of.

Even cavemen had to know that offspring come from the mother, are suckled by the mother, so, as her stake is greater, perhaps we could discuss the possibility that her responsibility and her unfortunate consequences are naturally going to be greater. Hmmm?

(Women have the legal system, the choices, except when they don’t want to make one. Nathan, you are so right.)

Women, about men, are trying to throw their weight around to make all things, all the time, in every circumstance, equal, when nature is screaming that they are not. Here, we have a boy unable to do anything. It’s the girl in the driver’s seat, on the abortion, adoption, on lawyering up, on raising baby, or not. The boy is made a burro for her choices, whatever they may be.

I fault the boy and the girl for considerations of abortion.

Sorry for the double post. I took a call, kept typing, and like an airhead, kept posting. Eek!

Are those newspaper "advice" columns still out there?

I always got a kick out of those "Dear Abby" columns when I was growing up. Even to my 13-year-old brain, I could see that they were entirely made up and scripted.

Now that's a nice gig if you can get it. Address moronic questions to yourself from fictional people and then answer them in a way that makes you seem a lot smarter and wiser than those poor, clueless, miserable souls out there.

Neither party should have the choice to abort the child.

Your comments are reasoned.

If at all possible, I like to see babies stay with the parent(s). If not, then a good loving home is fine too.

I think kids have angst regarding their birth parents. I like to see that avoided if at all possible.

If the home of the real parents isn’t loving, of course adoption is important too.

Children and parents in adoptive homes can be very loving toward each other, and completely fulfill all parties’ needs. I’m not here to knock adoption at all.

I agree with that. If I slipped up and implied or actually said otherwise, I didn’t mean to.

I don’t support abortion.

He is not taking an adversarial approach to the child. His lawyer will try to reduce the extent to which he will be raped by family court.

Oh really? Explain to me how I lost a home I bought BEFORE I was married to a divorce. I want to hear this...

The sexual revolution refers to abandonment of traditional sexual mores, for the supposedly modern goal of self-satisfaction and self-realization. I'm not talking about divorce or employment laws.

Men have won, in particularly, irresponsible and sexually active men. Women and children have lost. Men can create children and walk away. Society has no sanction and little stigma on them any longer. Women bear the burden of raising the child, and of course, children bear the burden of being aborted, or being born into poverty and dysfunctional families. Hell, if a guy is enough of a loser, the government will even pay for the consequences of his sexual license.

I would be for the mother being able to set the amount of child support she deems appropriate. And then the father having the absolute right to decide whether to pay child support, or accept custody of the child and stick HER with the child support payments, with the mom being subject to the exact same penalties for any failure to pay as the father would have been.

It’s only fair.

At the minimum, the boy’s lawyer should demand the mother prove he is the father before any discussion of child support occurs.

I would have added to get a Genetic Paternity test.

You never know, she could have been two timing him with some “bad boy loser” and she is claiming it is his kid since his parents are loaded.

Always get a paternity test, and the DNA kind not the blood type test either.

Thank you. I’m a long-time fan of Miss Manners - since high school. I had no idea she was still alive.

Home education should include not only the etiquette rules necessary to navigate life, but the underlying principles of manners.

I just went through a round of this while explaining to several offspring why I was buying a flower arrangement for the used-car dealer who arranged and paid for repairs to our brand-new-to-us used car, when he was under no legal obligation to do anything. "A major service like this requires acknowledgment over-and-above a hand-written, vociferously-grateful thank-you note."

"Wow," said various offspring.

The note (in Spanish) will go to Manuel-the-Mechanic. I made sure I had the address of his place of business.

considering the current court system is totally female-centric, IANAL but IMHO this guy needs to lay low for a while.

Once the court re-balances, the situation may change.

The court system puts young dumb males in front of a fast approaching legal locomotive.

It’s not the boy’s fault.

He’s been taught by friends, teachers, TV, the internet, maybe even his parents...that it’s alright to boff anything and everything with no thought of responsibility or consequences.

/sarc (sadly, only partly sarcastic)

You know, that makes sense. That's like the old solution to the problem of 2 kids splitting one cupcake.

One kids gets to cut the cupcake in two. Any way he wants.

The other kid has the first choice on which piece to take.

That actually works.
