YouTuber Tim Linton, who had just installed a dash-cam on his vehicle the previous day,captured the incident on film.
From what we understand, it all started at the 35-second mark when the fifth-gen Camaro driver tried to squeeze in front of the truck from the right lane. Instead of just slowing down, the pickup accelerated and the two drivers started bickering on the road.
The Camaro driver tailgated the pickup, and the pickup driver responded by riding right next to the large truck on the right hand side blocking the other motorist's way. Moments later, the Chevy driver tried to overtake the pickup from the left shoulder but he / she lost control and the pickup crashed into it leading all three vehicles off the road.

Over Under. I think that the percentage of people who defend the PU driver for lingering in the left lane are in the over 70 age group, I will say 80%. What say the rest of you.
Camaro is 100% at fault....he came up too suddenly then try to crowd between two cars....I don't blame the pickup for being pissed..
The country is full of angry a-holes. Only going to get worse.
I think lingering in the left lane is age related, but I also think passive/aggressive behavior is learned behavior (nurture over nature).
I was just trying to set the betting line. It could change, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
Not blaming him for being pissed is one thing but not blaming him for the behavior that followed is quite different.
Did you ever get behind the old lady driving 15 miles an hour on a local road where you cannot pass, and your trying to get your kid to his/her event on time. The car first of all looks like there is nobody even driving it, as no head can be observed. You look in the rear view and see a line of 20 cars trailing. You just pray she is going to turn sometime soon. You know she would never contemplate pulling over to let everyone else get to wherever they are going.
I taught both my sons a simple rule about driving on 2-lane highways:
If ever someone has to pass you on the right, YOU fail as a safe, courteous driver. Your speed is irrelevant - When someone wants by, you let them by. It’s not your job to police the speed of others.
In this case, while I shouldn’t guess about it, I can almost feel the delight from the 18-wheeler driver, knowing that the two of them have boxed the a-hole Camaro in. How easy would it have been for the 18-wheeler driver to lift, momentarily, to allow the Camaro to get by the truck, and therefore contribute to a safer driving environment.
Truckers are taught Smith Driving Principles, and one of them is “Leave yourself an ‘out’.” He has failed in that regard, and shares a small degree of responsibility for the wreck that ruined his day.
The only professional driver out there was the semi. He could have slowed up 5 mph and let the two other vehicles get by. As it turned out, all three were in the accident.
Reminds me of a rule of war I just read in Barbara Tuchman's book The Guns of August: "never commit an asset you're not prepared to lose."
Never create a bottleneck or rolling roadblock, always make way for speeders to pass as you are not omniscient. For all you know there could by a child in the car bleeding to death that needs to get to the hospital immediately!
Camaro was 100% at fault for flying up the right lane and trying to cut off the PU. Once that incident was over, instead of just letting it go the PU driver was out to teach a lesson.
From a legal standpoint they both committed infractions that led to the accident and I bet both their insurance companies are studying that video to see if they can deny the claims for reckless driving. Especially when the Big Rig’s insurance company comes a callin’.
The problem with being a left-lane @$$hole (like the truck, and to some extent the right lane semi that joined in on the fun) is that you never can be sure if the other @$$hole behind you (in the camaro) is a bigger idiot that you are.
The safe, sane decision is to move into the right lane as soon as safely possible and let the idiot by.
OR, like the pickup truck, you can succumb to “tostestereene poisoning” and wind up in the ditch.
I think all three got off light. Camaro, Truck and Semi played a game where no one wins.
The sad part: there was a mile of open road in front of both trucks and it could have been easily avoided. Easily. There are always going to be idiots on the road. The smart driver does what he can to put as much distance as possible between himself and the idiot. The two trucks in this incident chose to snuggle right up close to the idiot. Dumb move.
Here’s what they should have done: Grit their teeth; swallow their pride; let the idiot by and be thankful as they watched him disappear in the distance. It may offend their macho sensibilities, but they wouldn’t have wound up in the ditch if they had just let him by.

I see it also. I’ve noticed the level of aggression on the roadways is astounding now compared to what it was 10 years ago. I blame Obama.
I’m normally a passive slow lane cruiser but yesterday I was in an interstate connector and nowhere for me to go.
