GOP hits new FEMA policy making climate action a condition for states to receive federal grants

Republican lawmakers are criticizing a new policy at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that forces states to acknowledge climate change in order to receive some federal disaster funds.

The policy, set to take effect next March, requires state governors to address the role of climate change in their disaster-mitigation plans in order to qualify for federal disaster-preparedness grant money.

A group of Republican senators are questioning the change in a letter to FEMA Director Craig Fugate, arguing that the new policy will complicate the bureaucratic process of applying for mitigation assistance and force state leaders to adopt an ideological position in an ongoing and unsettled debate.

The senators go on to ask Fugate to “provide the specific statutory authority the agency [FEMA] relied upon to require consideration of climate change as a requisite for receipt of preparedness funds.”

Interestingly, the senators also insinuate that the policy change — like so many policy tweaks in the Obama era — was done without consulting state leaders on the front lines of implementing disaster relief plans.

“Republican lawmakers” should either do something about it, or shut up and admit they’re playing for the same team...

Criticizing? Is that between using IRS to attack
the TEA Party, and between arming al Qaeda and ISIS,
and keeping the borders open.

No sentient human will EVER trust the lying, backstabbing,
Give Obama Power (GOP) Party. They are scum.
A rattlesnake is more honest.

Substitute Tooth Fairy for Climate Change in this insane policy and it would make just as much sense.

Actually it would make more sense as most of those who are parents will acknowledge. At least Tooth Fairies get to keep their kids teeth.

Never forget that Congress created these agencies and unconstitutionally gave them the power to create rules with the weight of law.

Well, if they don’t get money from the feds, does that mean they don’t have to follow the tons of incredibly burdensome laws and their business don’t have to pay the brutal fees the feds inflict

I don’t forget. Congress needs to take back their power. Of course, this Congress doesn’t even realize they have any power.

disaster-mitigation”...Does that mean that after last winter 2/3rds of the states will be required to produce more carbon??

“Never forget that Congress created these agencies and unconstitutionally gave them the power to create rules with the weight of law.”

Those agencies get their “rules” from the president. Issuing new rules has been his way of strangling this nation. This is another way Obama has to take over states.

You can bet Texas Gov. Abbott, will think of a way around this or sue the government again. Now, don't tell me he can't win in court against the government, because he has sued Obama/Holder numerous times and won.

The answer is to get Muslim Obama out of that office as soon as the next presidential election is over, and Cruz kicks him out.

No, the “answer” is not going to be as simple as you subscribe.

The “answer” is to put “FEAR” back into the forefront of a concern of our representatives.

They do NOT “fear” our wrath, nor do they “fear” “us”, period.

That missing factor of “fear” is what allows them to ignore us and continue to concentrate on their only one true “fear”, and that “fear” is that they may not be re-elected.

Period.
