You’re wrong:

On the Cloture Motion S.Amdt. 1140 to H.R. 1191 (Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015)

I don’t think I said Cruz voted for a nuclear Iran. I’m concerned about him giving Obama a thin majority on a trade deal and on his supporting more H1B visas which will be used to undermine US tech workers. The other questions are about Cruz voting to extend the Patriot Act.

No I’m not wrong. You are looking at the cloture vote.

Here is the direct quote from Cruz:

“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage”

Yes on final passage.

He explained his stance on the trade deal, did you not see it? What are US companies supposed to do if there aren’t enough trained technical workers? Ship those openings overseas? At least the H1-B workers pay taxes here, spend their money here and help our economy, not India’s or Pakistan’s.

As someone who worked in intelligence for many years, I can tell you that a US Senator is privy to information that you and I are not. It really comes down to whether you trust Ted Cruz or not, now doesn’t it?

I’m not buying that explanation about needing more tech workers. Walk down any street in the US where real people live, and you’ll find tech workers who have been replaced by cheap labor H1B visa workers.

Really? I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and EVERYBODY is hiring. Did U-Haul, Atlas Van Lines and Penske go out of business?

I'm talking about the tech workers that H1B Visas allow in the US. I'm saying that there are plenty of US tech workers who are unemployed or underemployed because they've been replaced by cheaper foreign workers.

Even if there were a shortage, there's no reason companies couldn't go into high schools and provide the kind of job skill training that would make students qualified for those jobs upon their HS graduation.

Companies already do tons of that, but you can’t teach a 70 IQ gang-banger to program, in most cases. I was with the state workforce center (fka the unemployment office) in a Midwestern state and we had all kinds of programs for youth, welfare recipients, minorities, veterans and etc. in conjunction with community colleges, unions, state schools and high schools.

No it comes down to the US constitution which gives the Senate the power to ratify treaties. Now the Senate itself is attempting to circumvent the Constitution and water down its own power. The reason for all this is because they don’t have the guts to pursue the Constituional remedy for an out of control President which is Impeachment. Or the power the purse to cut off funding for his misadventure.

There are two ways to effect agreements between countries, treaty’s and executive agreements. Obama has been trying to label this Iran deal as an executive agreement so he does not have to seek ratification. That’s how this whole mess got started.

So the House and Senate can get together and try to impeach the guy which they don’t have the votes for. Or they can just let him do it and its good until the day a republican President takes office or they can cut off any and all funding for the agreement. My personal favorite is the funding route to keep the deal up in the air until a new President just voids it with an EO.

Trying to forge some half azz treaty power that waters down their constitutional treaty power is just insane.

Impeachment? He could behead a troop of girl scouts on the White House lawn during the Easter Egg roll, butcher them, barbecue them and serve them to all the participants and he still wouldn’t be impeached. And if you criticized him about it, the press would say “it’s a black thing” and accuse you of being a racist tea bagging rethuglican for bringing it up while licking their fingers and asking Michelle what kind of “awesome” spice rub they’re using and beg for more of that “delicious” macaroni & cheese and a refill of their Kool-aid.

What, this again?

I thought we were past this. It's funny, Georgia Girl, that on the original thread at post #25, you said you guess you understood why he did it, that Cruz probably has info we don't:

link

Are you finding it too convenient to try and pile on? In favor of (giggle) Trump?

I'm gonna be mad if I find out Ted likes Coffee-Mate instead of half & half. I'm telling you, if he does, I'm done with him.

The best source for labor to train are those students with solid B averages, good disciplinary records, and wanting an alternative to college debt. Unfortunately, they’re now being steered into college programs where they won’t necessarily have job skills and will have massive debt. I’d assume that if tech companies were forced to hire US workers, they’d look at that excellent source of workers and train them themselves.

What did I just say?

“So the House and Senate can get together and try to impeach the guy WHICH THEY DON’T HAVE THE VOTES FOR. Or they can just let him do it and its good until the day a republican President takes office or they can cut off any and all funding for the agreement. My personal favorite is the funding route to keep the deal up in the air until a new President just voids it with an EO.”

The other thing is that the Congress voted fairly strong sanctions on Iran long ago which Obama does not have the power to take off without their agreement. They just need to continue with the sanctions and punish the President in myriad of ways.

Bottom line is that the House and Senate do not have the guts to take even the most mild measures to stop Obama so Mitchie and company have figured out a way to capitulate to him and somehow say they aren’t. That’s what is in play here. I am just surprised and disappointed that Ted Cruz is going along with it.

Good LEADERSHIP CAN have a positive impact.

However, you are correct in that it is going to take something much larger than that to turn our country around so that it once again looks to God and His ways to become truly great. I believe that many Americans will find their way to do just that as we go through some very difficult times. These times must come because we, as a nation, have removed ourselves from God’s protection in many different ways. I pray for GOOD leadership through those times (we have already begun to enter into said times) and that we will all call on God and work together to rebuild.
