At a reception at the State Department that marked the U.S. taking over the chairmanship of the Arctic Council, Secretary of State John Kerry said that if Benjamin Franklin lived today and was nominated for office he would never be confirmed. […]

“(T)here is, of course, a second connection between Franklin and this reception,” Kerry said. “And that is that he liked to have a really good time, folks. And he didn’t spare the booze, and while he was in Paris he led a life that clearly meant that had he lived today and been nominated, he would never have been confirmed for office. (Laughter.) Anyway, it just goes to show how the times change.” …

There are many, many topics on which I could not possibly care less what John Kerry’s opinion is, and this is certainly one of them.

Q: What to John Kerry and Ben Franklin have in common.

A: They both drink. But Franklin could hold his liquor.

I’ve heard that Franklin enjoyed female companionship, along the lines of stories of JFK and Bill Clinton. If Franklin were a Democrat he would be confirmed today to high office.

There once was a time when Massachusetts produced fine men, men who had a strength of character and decency and intelligence, whose principles led to the founding of this nation.

Sadly, those days have long passed by, with Massachusetts sinking to the level where it produced the likes of Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, John Kerry, and other feckless idiots, traitors, and criminals.

Problem is, someone is actually going to believe the outrageous pack of lies he just told. Never underestimate the capacity for delusion in a left-indoctrinated mind.

Blind squirrel finds nut. Kerry is right. Franklin could never be confirmed to a cabinet post or ambassadorship now. Why? Because he believed in republican virtue and limited government, and therefore the left would dig up stories about his womanizing and use them to vilify him in the media during his confirmation hearings, while every Democrat senator postured hypocritically about moral issues and bloviated that confirming Franklin would be a concession to the Republican “War on Women”.

if Benjamin Franklin lived today and was nominated for office he would never be confirmed.

If Franklin was alive today he'd be running some huge tech company he'd founded.

Franklin’s last office was that of ambassador to France. In other words, working for Kerry. And given that Franklin isn’t a heavy-rolling donor to the Democrat party, no, he probably would never have been nominated for the post.
