Tell the author they’d get more attention if they played naked.

barf. just barf. boo hoo, people don’t get excited about women sports. poor widdle us. it must be sexism. unfair. penalty flag.

crap like this makes it easy to ignore them even more. they don’t deserve it. plenty of sports had tiny followings for a very, very long time. the players played not to be adored, not to say “look at me!”, they played because they loved what they did.

if you play sports for “equality” you ain’t doing it for the right reasons.

For criminal sake who pays any attention to soccer no matter which sex is playing?

Sally Jenkins, of the Washington Post, said it best in the HBO documentary, “Dare To Dream”: “Everybody forgot that they were chicks … the idea that these were athletes, as opposed to female athletes.”

Who forgot? Who even gave a sh*t? I've said before, the only thing more boring than soccer is women's soccer and I will go out of my way to avoid this mini-media frenzy over the Women's World Cup. Besides, the US Open starts next Thursday.

But now, as the mom of 17-month-old twin girls, I have even more reason to seek out examples of tenacity and strength....

How about yourself, Mom?

Unless the women's team can beat the men's team, perhaps the greater focus on the men's team is due to their quality of play, not sexism.

However, that explanation doesn't satisfy the feminist need for victim status.

Well, then let's just cancel it!

That is a big issue; the women’s game is much slower, and the players are a lot less talented. I’ve watched a few of the games, and you see a lot more passes to nowhere (or outright to the other team) than you’d ever see in a men’s World Cup game. The difference in athletic ability is stark.

The 1999 victory was used to promote a women’s professional league (which folded shortly afterwards); I believe they attempted another one, and that folded as well. Unlike the WNBA (which is funded by wealth transfers from the NBA), there is little money in the men’s leagues in the US (MLS and NASL) - so there is nothing to prop up women’s soccer.

It doesn’t help that the US team looks like a gay pride event...

It is nice to watch two Scandinavian teams play...even if the play is boring you’ll hope for overtime...

The men are only better athletes because they were socialized to be better athletes?

“But the women’s team just isn’t getting the attention or respect it deserves. Especially if you compare it to the promotion the U.S. men — a thoroughly mediocre team, at least by global standards — received in the run-up to the World Cup last year (see: “I believe that we will win”).

I do not begrudge the American men the spotlight, but the facts are hard to ignore: Their best-ever result in a World Cup was third, in 1930. In more recent memory — the 2010 and 2014 tournaments — they’ve barely made it to the knockout stage.”

That’s just stupid. Promoting the women’s team does not mean you need to knock the men’s team down a peg as the author does. Besides, it’s just silly to call the U.S. men’s team “thoroughly mediocre” at this point in time. And, saying that they “barely” made it to the knockout rounds in 2014 ignores that they did so by making it out of the toughest group in the tournament. So, again, just a stupid article.

Even in Soccer crazy Norway I had to look hard to find the Norway-Thailand score (Norway 4-O btw.) Norway has one at least 2 World Cups. The reaction still is meh. The men’s team here is definetly mediocre and their games are on TV against soccer superpowers like Albania and Montenegro. /s

Put the women on the unisex soccer team.

But don’t be surprised when the Islamist player insist that the women sit on the bench.

Will Women’s World Cup teams allow transgendered men to play or are they still oppressively cis-gendered sexist?

The scribbler of this miserable story should ask most of the females of this country why they don't want to watch female athletes. Nobody is twisting the arms of female Americans preventing them from switching the remote from their idiot reality tv shows to a sports channel. And if the women are not on a sports channel, demanding that they be put on.

The facts are the average female is not nearly as interested in sports as the average male. It is NOT!! the male's obligation to watch sports he doesn't like to watch.

Most feminists and their sissy male enablers cannot grasp the fact that men will not watch unattractive women play sports.

On a basketball forum I frequent the subject of lack of attention to female pro players was broached. I opined that their potato sack uniforms might have something to do with it. If I can be so crudely male chauvinistic and sexist, men like to see a little leg on females.

My remark was met by a chorus of posters who called me a sexist (rightly so) who said men should watch the women play no matter how they were dressed. These people are living in a bizarro world. Men will NOT!! watch women they deem unattractive play sports. Thems the facts...sorry if it offends some people.
