I have seen demonstrations of the CBS system, and it did produce eye-popping color.
But yeah, from a technical standpoint, it was absurd.

One of these days we’ll be able to access sufficient internet speed for Netflix. Right now a three-minute trailer will buffer repeatedly.

Can't be. King Obama hath decreed that Net Neutrality is the Law of the Land. We should all be getting unlimited broadband speeds for free now.

“I remember tv wives and mothers at home always dressed up”
Yea — I couldn’t understand why my mom only looked like June Cleaver on Sunday mornings!

My mother didn’t look like June Cleaver even on Sunday. Oh, Mom dressed well for church, but she didn’t have heels or pearls or fancy jewelry. She couldn’t afford such finery.

Ozzie Nelson and Jim Anderson always wore a suit and tie around the house.
At least we knew the Father Knows Best dad sold insurance.
I have no idea what, if anything, Ozzie did for a living.

Same with my mom. It was just “Sunday Best” — better than the housedresses during the week. I guess she looked as much like June Cleaver as I could imagine.

“Good guys guns never run out of bullets, but bad guys guns always do.”
Encore Westerns channel recently ran a clip from the John Wayne movie “The Sons of Katie Elder” where Duke fires 14 rounds out of his trusty six shooter without reloading. Their caption was “Hell of a gun.”
And I love how “The Rifleman” can fire 12 rounds from his rifle, reach in his pocket, pull out ONE bullet, shove it in the rifle and be good to go.

Dads were well dressed even to take their sons to a ball game. Come to think of it, most dads came home from work in a suit and tie, but they never changed to more casual attire before dinner. If I was a guy being strangled all day by a tie, I would have taken it off and opened up my shirt before I even left the office. Except if an episode took place on a weekend or vacation, dads were always in a suit and tie.
The dads all had professional careers that required them to be well dressed for work. How often did you see a dad on tv who worked in a factory or coal mine or some blue collar job?

Why, he went to the office. That's what all these guys did. Ozzie, Ward Cleaver, all of them. Went to the office.

Well, you had Chester Riley, of “Life of Riley,” who was a blue-collar worker, at that plane factory, working alongside his neighbor pal, Gillis. Circa 1953-58. Can’t think of too many others, offhand.

Despite the fact that Roman Catholics are less than a quarter of the US population, about 90 per cent of TV clergy are priests. That is because they have easily recognizable costumes.
A pastor is just a guy in a suit.

Women NEVER remove their makeup when going to bed (then or now). People never remove their underwear before going to bed even if they are going to have sex. The next morning they sit up the guy is still wearing boxers and undershirt and the girl is wearing panties and bra.
