‘Terminator Genisys’ Review: Nonsense and Insensibility
wsj ^

Posted on 07/02/2015 4:31:06 AM PDT by Perdogg

Terminator Genisys” tries to squeeze blood from a corpse, and the ghastliness isn’t confined to its star. At least Arnold Schwarzenegger has clearly been assigned the task of comic relief as the guardian robot who is now called Pops by the heroine he was sent from the future to guard. The whole thing is moribund, notwithstanding vast spasms of action gibberish, and despite the intricacies of good and bad outcomes that have been plotted on alternate timelines. On an alternate line with a better outcome, this movie, which was directed by Alan Taylor, would never have been produced. Yet here it is, filling thousands of multiplex screens, so the best to be hoped for is merciful termination of the franchise. “I’m old, not obsolete,” Pops insists, but the premise has become both.

Saw it last night. If you are a fan of the movies, it makes sense, especially with the change in time lines (not giving much away). If you are not a SciFi fan and have minimal understanding of science, you won’t like it. Otherwise, a fun ride.

In the Terminator canon, time travel requires an organic exterior, so the killer robots have a flesh surface with human appearance. Apparently that flesh ages as we do.

My understanding is the studios have already green-lit two more as this was to be a new trilogy.

The Terminator (1984) and T2 were canon. All else is rubbish.

Robots age?

Yeah...my question as well.

Perhaps Skynet has decided to produce CSM-101 models that look as if they have aged in order to have them blend in with 20th-21st century human populations better?

'Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.' That's a direct quote com T2.

So the tissue ages. Even Skynet didn't find a solution for that.

As a male nearly Arnold's age, I get that!

All I have to say is...

When civilization has advanced enough, and we can buy androids for our own "personal" use...mine had better not age.

Unless the killer robot is made of a mimetic polyalloy.
That always bugged me...
