I think the answer is for someone else. I saw the movie already so I do not need to look at the website.
Can’t wait for it to hit Netflix.
I teared up when they were showing real military dogs from as far back as WWI during the credits.
No, there is not a dog in the movie. There is a stately German Shepherd. German Shepherds transcend the usual state of being a “mere” dog. They are super dogs. They are a bridge between mere dogdom and humanity. Anybody who has ever owned a GSD knows that these majestic supreme creatures are not just “dogs”. They rise far above mere dogdom. Far above.
Hey, you’re talking to a cat owner.
I don’t have a dog in this fight.
Go see the movie, BenLurkin and once you see it you’ll want to get a German shepherd from one of the southern CA German shepherds. Our rescue has several dogs that are good with cats.
The dog in the movie is supposed to be a Belgian Malinois but I believe it’s a BelMal and black sable German shepherd mix, both have high prey drives.
I remember watching a modern epic western (Open range, I think) and a dog was murdered about 20 minutes in. Walked out of the theater and will not watch the movie on video.
There are some people here who probably really didn’t like John Wick
Would you watch John Wayne’s Hondo and Big Jake?
Haven’t seen them. I probably would continue watching, even after the death of a dog, because older movies (and especially ones with John Wayne) would have handled it differently than it was in “Free Range”. I am just speculating about that, but I love old movies and the way they were able to suggest things without being blatant. I may have had a knee-jerk reation to “Free Range” because of the way it led up to the dog’s killing. I found myself thinking for several minutes leading up to it...”If they kill that dog, I am OUTTA HERE!”
It was psychological manipulation, and i could sense it happening.
But that’s just me...your mileage may vary.
A very Happy Independence Day to you!
