Welcome To Culture War 4.0: The Coming Overreach
The Federalist ^ | July 6, 2015 | Benjamin Domenech and Robert Tracinski

For those Americans who hoped the culture wars would finally end, the month of June reminded us they’re just getting started.

Within hours of the Supreme Court’s resolution of the battle over same-sex marriage—the triumph of a generation of gay-rights activists—some were already calling for further steps to take tax exemptions away from churches, use anti-discrimination laws to target religious non-profits, and crack down on religious schools’ access to voucher programs. We learned media entities would no longer publish the views of those opposed to gay marriage or treat it as an issue with two sides, and the American Civil Liberties Union announced it would no longer support bipartisan religious-freedom measures it once backed wholeheartedly. A reality TV star pushed the transgender rights movement into the center of the national dialogue even as Barack Obama’s administration used its interpretation of Title IX to push its genderless bathroom policies into public schools. And we learned that pulling Confederate merchandise off the shelves isn’t enough to mitigate the racism of the past—we must bring down statues and street signs, too, destroying reminders of history now deemed inconvenient and unsafe.

I wonder what will be the bright line that causes states to secede? Marriage to children, Sharia law, reparations...

At some point we must sunder and CWII will happen. It is an inevitable clash of cultures.

The Right needs the Left for...nothing. This should scare the crap out of the Left.

The Left thinks that the Right needs the Left as arbiters of "true" (i.e., progressive) morality. That is why they are not scared, because they are convinced that they are on a mission from (themselves as) God.

The Left needs the Right to pay for their idiot social programs. The Right needs the Left for...nothing. This should scare the crap out of the Left. The fact that it is not even on their radar screens confirms that they are indeed morons.

They're already running out of other peoples money (See: Greece).

I doubt it. Look what Greece had to come to before the people realized they needed to do something? Are our millennials any better? Who in this country stands for anything of the old values, other than those of us over 40 or 50?

From a recent Hollywood blockbuster:

"It's the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation... you were made to be ruled. And in the end, you will always kneel."

Would never expect a FR poster with the name “Thomas More” to despair. It won’t be the first time a “faithful remnant” led a wayward nation out of the abyss.

The Left is going to go after the American Flag, the US Military as an institution, and guns next.

The stupid “co-exist” bumper sticker has been reconfigured to “comply”:

I submit to you the idea that the culture war has been lost.

I disagree. I think that it is only now that most Americans even realize that there is a culture war.

Interesting comments about Twitter on this thread and a lot of defeatism.

Twitter is a useful tool, like a gun. I use it for social media marketing, pretty much automated, to send out tweets when I release a new video or blog post.

There is no reason Twitter cannot be used with good effect by conservatives too. In war both sides use weapons. If you see the effectiveness of a weapon of war being used by the other side, why would you deny yourself the use of that weapon?

You cannot win if you are not in the fight. Cowering in your pews and moaning to each other on FR won’t cut it. Before you give up or resort to violence, open a Twitter account and fight back.

Like Thomas More, I will fight even unto death for what is RIGHT. For the sake of Jesus Christ and all that is good, I will never give in to the deviancy of the left. But the remnant is getting smaller and smaller.

No despair but certainly discouraged.

It is vitally important to keep fighting the good fight and to document your insightful objections to the decadence and hedonism that now pervades and dominates American culture. Eventually such a corrupt culture is not sustainable and the people will come to seek an alternative to the vapid decay. Even it does not happen in our lifetime, your efforts and writings leave important insights that will help lead the American people once again to righteousness. St.Thomas More still inspires more people than Henry VIII and the decadent church he founded.

"Cowering in your pews..."

That's an odd comment. Does church attendance equal "cowering"?

Record 100 millions Americans not in the work force. We have less and less ‘makers’ contributing to the pool, while more and more on the gubmint dole under Obama. “Idiot” Left calls for higher and more creative taxes on those who still ‘can’.

I think the Left knows its gig is about to go up, hence the ever more vitriol and hysteria we see them display daily.

No it does not. It means that it is not enough to go to your church and listen. It is time to take a public stand; and not just here in the FR echo chamber.
