Trump, Palin, Democrats dream ticket (Laughing - this is in fact, the perfect GOP ticket)
Jamestown Sun ^ | Jul 16, 2015 | Trump, Palin, Democrats dream ticket By The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead Editorial Board

The best thing that can happen to Democrats is for outspoken, outrageous Donald Trump, the New York billionaire, to dominate the Republican presidential primary season. The Donald is in classic form these days, insulting Mexico and Mexican-Americans while trying to make a case about the criminality of immigrants. He's doing his money-lubricated best to undermine credible candidates like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by belittling and baiting them. If a newbie on the political scene were to see Trump in action, it would be easy to conclude he's working for the Democrats.

Later down the article:

(continues) "In addition to the fringe element of the Republican Party (or is it?), Democrats are The Donald's most enthusiastic fans. The only thing that could be better for the Dems at this point would be for Trump to tap former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate. Palin, who almost single-handedly destroyed Sen. John McCain's bid for the presidency in 2008."...

I just had to post this.

This is a true, dream ticket.

Truly.

“If a newbie on the political scene were to see Trump in action, it would be easy to conclude he’s working for the Democrats.”

If that was true, this writer would be smug and not complain. Normally, when people see their enemies destroy themselves, they don’t intervene.

And that may well be in the cards. I was a strong supporter of Palin back in the day.

But this Jamestown Sun rag is about as low as anyone can go- are they trying to compete with the NY Times or something?

Well that's an outrageous lie. She almost saved it.

In politics demographics is destiny.

The author of this snotty piece is relying on the new reality of the new age of American demographics. It is not just that conservatism is losing the war on the issues it is more that conservatism is losing the body count. I have posted that we as informed and enthusiastic conservatives must be mindful that we tend to live in a bubble. Our friends tend to be conservative and those with whom we exchange political views tend to be conservative.

In a sense we are a subset of a subset of a subset not only demographically by race, class etc. but we are a subset of a subset of a subset based on political ideology. Regrettably, we do not control the Republican Party, we do not even control the Tea Party. The author smugly relies on his view of the racial breakdown of America which gives me another excuse to invoke Nathan's first maxim of American politics:

all politics in America is not local but ultimately racial

Despite all of these realities, I still insist that the way to win elections is Reagan's way: do not try to enlarge the tent by watering down the message try to fill the tent by attracting people to our timeless conservative message.

At this stage in the primary season, Donald Trump is doing just that. The time will undoubtedly come when Trump becomes a very great liability because of demographic realities but we are not there yet.

There is yet another consideration: the Republican establishment has so forfeited its claim on any red-blooded conservative that it matters little now whether we elect a Rino or a Democrat. It matters whether we elect a Ted Cruz or a Scott Walker but it does not matter if we elect a Bush or a Christie. Therefore, Trump is rendering yes another service in separating the flock, in separating the sheep from the goats, the rinos from the conservatives.

Let the primary season continue in robust debate, we conservatives have very little to lose from a political point of view while the Republic has everything to lose.

You ignore the other key item Trump has been saying:

“Bring back jobs to America”.

That in and of itself, will completely reverse the decline of the GOP, and bring the party back to national prominence.

It is the national sell-out of our manufacturing, which has caused the GOP to implode.

Trump is all alone, in saying that is the major problem. I completely agree with Donald Trump on this issue, and he is the only guy saying one single peep about this very important issue.

Bring back jobs to America.

“Well that’s an outrageous lie. She almost saved it.”

That is true - McCain even had a slight lead, for a short time, right after picking her...then McCain got back on message and started attacking conservatives again and telling the country that Obama would make a “great president”.

Even so, I do think there’s too much drama in Palin’s life...much better to have Cruz at this point.

FWIW, heard Glenn Beck on the radio a couple days ago.

He thinks Trump is a flake.

When Beck thinks you’re a flake, it’s probably a good idea to realize you just might be a flake.

Not that we can’t do worse, and probably will.

Sorry, I liked and like Palin.

But her style allowed the press to destroy her and the campaign.

Anybody think Cruz could be similarly portrayed as an idiot?

She should have been prepared to fight back against the press attacks, and she just wasn’t.

In my opinion, that is a huge endorsement.

Beck is a good guy, but he’s a bit out there, anymore.

I used to like him. Just saying.

Palin fought a very good fight.

She and Trump would be the perfect team, in my opinion.

Cruz as very formidable, and a future president.

Maybe put Cruz in charge of returning American jobs, to train for it.

:D

Those same demographics (i.e., Hispanics now being 40% of Texans and Hispanics plus blacks now a clear majority of Texans) were supposed to make Texas competitive in 2014. Instead the Democrats LOST EVERY STATEWIDE RACE by 20 points.

The problem for the Democrats was that they managed to unify the white vote with their extreme liberalism (about 75% of whites voted Republican) and barely managed to win a majority of the Hispanic vote (Dems got about 56% of it). Only blacks came through for the Dems, and there are not enough of them here to carry the election.

It’s also worth noting that the Republicans DID NOTHING to pander to the Hispanics - they ran the most conservative ticket that they ever ran...yet almost split that vote.

In other southern states, particularly Alabama, whites voted in even higher numbers for Republicans (up to 89%).

All of the “Demographic Theories” pertaining to the demise of the Republican Party, and conservatives in general, assume that the white vote will continue to split relatively evenly. Those days are certainly gone in South, which is why it is now solid red, even given the millions of new Hispanics - and the REAL FEAR that the Democrats have is that some Republican candidate will not listen to the Republican ‘advisers’ (most of them gay, by the way) and will start to unify the white vote outside of the South.

Trump may just do that, given his stance on Open Borders.

My point is that some people simply cannot be portrayed as idiots, however much their enemies might like to do so.

I mentioned Cruz, but WF Buckley also comes to mind. Mark Steyn, also, despite his being a high school dropout.

If you respond intelligently, articulately and aggressively in print or verbally to such attacks, they just make the attacker look stupid.

Palin failed to be prepared for such attacks, which it was perfectly obvious would be coming. Either she or her handlers really screwed that up.

BTW, if intelligence is to be the determining factor in who leads us, perhaps we should have a national mandatory IQ test, and just stick the #1 scorer in as president.
