Reading this is has occurred to be that aromaphobia can quickly become Islamophobia if there is a muslim in the neighborhood. Wouldn’t it be just like them to complain that the smell of cooking pork violates their religious beliefs? I know it is crazy but you have to think like a muslim.

BBQ profiling? Is it any wonder why the enviro movement is so overwhelmingly White? The only reason 0 occasionally speaks about “man-made” climate change is because he owed the tree huggers big time. The Sierra Club, WWF, Friends of the Earth, etc may as well be “Whites only “clubs. The only Blacks people at their conventions are holding microphones or serving trays. I’ve seen more diversity at a NASCAR race.
Years gone by this could not have happened but for many years now every kind of crank and extremist has been bullying the majority and getting away with it. It has to be stopped.

I take extra steps to avoid prolonged direct exposure to the one very specific thing that renders me violently ill.
I do go to cookouts, and as long as I avoid being outside or near the grills, nobody even needs to know I have a problem.When my neighbors grill, I just make certain my windows are closed, and my candles or scented tarts are burning.
It would not occur to me to make my problem an issue for my neighbors.

+I do not love the smell of “barbecue” (Charcoal and lighter fluid fumes sicken me instantly, almost like an allergy, but it’s more a mental than physical reaction)+
No real griller uses lighter fluid unless you like kerosene infused meat. You use a metal charcoal ‘chimney’ starter which holds about 3-4 lbs of charcoal and light paper under it. It adds about 20 minutes to grill preparation, but adds no chemicals to alter flavor (don’t use newspaper, I use white paper towels or white rolled paper). As far as the smell of the charcoal itself I have no answer, I use mesquite charcoal and just smell mesquite, but smoke sensitivity would make any combustible breathed in evoke an allergic reaction.
