He's saying everything a Republican candidate for President needs to be saying. That said, I don't trust him any farther than I can throw him (and I have a bad arm)

I agree with you, and think no one knows his true motives - which are almost certainly mixed.

I like his boldness to tell the truth without fear - his GOP competitors need to go to school on him.

I fear his ending up as POTUS because

a.) he’s proven to not have a moral foundation, nor a fear of God. He is NOT a conservative.

b.) he’s clearly out for himself first - not unlike our current POTUS,

c.) but unlike our current POTUS who is ideologically driven to intentionally destroy our nation, Trump does love our nation and truly wants to save it.

d.) he’s a populist who is stirring up and taking the lead by playing on the deep angst in our populace - especially conservatives...not unlike Hitler;

e.) with no solid moral foundation, he could be a great president in some ways, and very scary in others.

So no one really knows.

And I doubt if Trump knows himself at this point.

Trump hates Hillary—he would never do anything to put her in the White House. He may have liked her once—but no more. He will do a lot but play Ross Perot to get Hillary in—isn’t the case. Perot was a nut—Trump isn’t dumb. I bet he has a plan—or several in the works.

As a businessman, I understand a guy like Trump has to play nice with the Powers that Be.

Trump is a pragmatist - he solves the problems at hand as he sees them using tools available to him, including unsavory ones (as he has often stated - “I have some horrible SOBs negotiating for me.”). He has a quite forgiving attitude toward the means he will use to achieve his ends. (”I’ve donated to everybody, that’s what you have to do if you’re in business”)

Don’t expect any deep philosophical underpinning to guide him in his decision making. Which means that sooner or later he will disappoint you. He will not be predictable, his guiding light is his gut.

So with Trump you are buying the man, not a philosophy. I’m sure he has a world view, but I doubt that he’s conscious of it or can tell you what it is. If you can decipher what it from his past actions and you agree with it, then you’ll probably be happy with his decisions most of the times.

What I’ve seen from him so far leads me to believe that on the whole his values are mainly consistent with traditional American values (unlike the current Resident, who abhors them).

So although he has nowhere the conservative philosophical underpinning of Ted Cruz, he could succeed in turning this ship back in a direction more to our liking. Given his enormous ego and the way he handles the schmucks in the media, he could actually succeed.

But be always prepared to be disappointed.

The thing to remember is that we can’t really trust any of THEM because only GOD knows what is in their hearts and what they will do for money and to save their own asses behind closed doors. The thing with Trump is he has a lot to lose because of all his holdings if America goes away so let him fight for it for now. Let him poke the media, Democrats and dweebs stinking up our party. We always have Cruz. The lesser of all the evils can still be an evil.

From a pastor friend of mine yesterday in response to the same question:

“He’s brought brash truth to an American tradition fraught with cleverly hidden lies. He’s threatened the establishment liars and jeopardized their monopoly on money and power, and he’s made them look like little girls. Unfortunately, he is a progressive, and a pagan.”

Trump’s ego is even bigger than his money supply. That means that it’s just possible that he truly wants the top job. His ego would lead him to believe that he could really turn things around. Maybe he can. Much to my dismay, however, he seems to be totally devoid of humility. A little humility is a good thing. But I’m just afraid that he’s just having the time of his life, enjoys the attention and will quit and go home when it’s not fun anymore. Probably 2 but we’ll see.

“whose mother posed nude for the pornographer” ............... ???? Really??? Where are the photos of her? Don’t post them, just where are they? Where is the source? If we are talking about some look alike photo taken in the 40’s around Christmas time, it isn’t her, she wasn’t in her 20’s.

It seems like the powers that be were all set for Jeb versus Hillary and then along comes Donald Trump, effing up their plans. The powers that be do not like things that eff up their plans; hence, the unified media assault against the front runner.

If he manages to secure the nomination, the PTB will not have his back.

Your c.) “but unlike our current POTUS who is ideologically driven to intentionally destroy our nation, Trump does love our nation and truly wants to save it”....resonates best for me.

I use a stock trading analogy. 90+% of stock investors are “longs”, they are bought in to the LT success of the US, and look to acquire positions aligned that way. They can not really benefit nor do they to benefit from the destruction or deterioration of the US.

The current crop of politicians, I view as “short” the US. They want to “borrow” it...using their temporary entrenchment in office and the accompanying power to deteriorate the US, on the theory, defective or not, that a reformulated and or reduced US will accrue to their benefit. Whether by retaining office or becoming lobbyists. They are really no different than an illegal swimming across the Rio Grande. They are just looking to improve or at least maintain their own personal lifestyles, without concern for the edifice they are so willing to degrade. Their thinking goes no deeper than that. Their loyalty is to their own retirement. Remember Geo Soros famously profited a $billion by shorting the GBP. These people in power, they are shorts. They wish to see the US decline. Either they are convinced by seemingly immutable demographics, widespread stupidism, and/or the distraction of the public by electronic gizmos and Kardashian obsession that work, grit, and determination are no longer American values. They actually understand and actually agree with us that those values ARE the foundation of a more prosperous society. Except they are seeing those values dwindle away and instead of reverting to traditional principles, they wish to bet on what they are convinced society will be when those values are fully depleted.

Unfortunately, I have to say the odds appear to be on their side for now, and have been for a while.

#2 is my answer.

Trump is getting a lot of support from people who aren’t looking back far enough that covers some questionable antics and opinions coming from this man.

He has too many fires going in too many pots to continue past a point when he begins losing the luster of his aggressive in your face behavior.

I’m glad he’s still around and support his behavior toward the spineless, the crooks and the arrogant do nothings but that will subside eventually. He’s a businessman. Running is not cost effective. I’d rather see trump in an advisory capacity.

Definitely not #1. I don’t think he’s a man of deeply good character.

Leaning toward #2, open to #3.

Best-Case Scenario: Trump has proven that an anti-invasion stance is a winner. Then Trump bows out, leaving Cruz liberated to campaign against the invasion.

2. Trump is all about the publicity. While he is helping to bring attention to important issues, he's not in it for the long haul. When the publicity fades, he will lose interest and drop out.

At which time he'll endorse either Cruz or Fiorina.
